Sorry for the lack of a message in the previous post.
I've noticed recently that if my soldiers are carrying any weapon other then demo charges or the 203, they do not use their secondary weapon, unless I am controlling that particular Ghost.
For example, on a defend mission, Tunney ran out of ammo on the Bizon (I was trying to make things harder on myself), his secondary was grenades. Anyway, he never tossed any frags, even though he was within range.
Has any one else observed this?
I am wondering if I can set up a demo guy w/the M136, in line with a tank, if he will fire at it or switch back to the M4?

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I THOUGHT I saw Jacobs launch a grenade ONCE when I had them set to suppress, but I am begin to doubt that. I'd be willing to bet a good sum of money that your support guy would never fire on a tank for you.

Same here!
I've noticed that the A.I. don't like secondary weapons. The only exception to this is what R.O.E. they're set to. If you have them on suppress and they have a more powerful secondary weapon, they switch. Same with recon. If you have an M16 and an M9, they usually pick the M9 in recon, but, I've never actually seen them fire it . . . /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I've seen the snipers swap and use weapons quite a bit, but rarely does a demo guy, unless its a mission that requires them to plant charges (i.e. mission 2).
I've had guys use the 203, but never throw a grenade.

To yetihunter,
Your demo soldiers carrying a M136 will not fire the anti tank weapon so your going to have to do this yourself. They will place a demo charge in the location if you set a way point to the objective. Your rifleman will fire the grenade launcher and if there is a second soldier with your sniper and he has a secondary weapon as pistol the sniper will move around with his pistol in hand. But the sniper switches as he sees fit but if your sniper has frag he will always have his sniper rifle in his hand. Your soldiers will not throw frag by themselves.

Ok this is the deal bottom line. Silenced weapons have the best accuracy in the game and in real life. But penetration and power are compromised for silence and precision. It depends on what kind of player you are. An aggressive player wants to kill a person with an unsilenced weapon so they can hit them anywhere and kill them. A suave player prefers the SD weapons quiet, sweet, precise. To be the suave player you must get head shot to ensure a successful kill/kills. I prefer SD weapons. In the castle stage in the original ghost recon you can reek havoc with Vincent Ramirez with his MP5 SD if you are good enuff and utilize his stealth when entering the castle fortress. It all depends on how good you are. To fully utilize SD weapons you have to be patient for the shot and patient to get in range. End of lesson...

The only problem i have run into in this mission, when using Ramirez and the SD MP5, is that once you get into the interior compound, you're kind of screwed. If they see you or notice that their buddies are in any sort of firefight, they will execute the POW's.
But I can see your point in using this weapon in other missions, up close.

I love sneaking up on guys with the MP5-SD. Thats about the only thing it is good for. I was in the Farm level where you must rescue the pilots. I was creeping along the ground and I got to within about 25 feet of three guys and I killed them all with 3 headshots. It was great.

Did ChocoHazard throw this off-topic? 'Cause I'm trying to learn about AI use of Secondary weapons, but it seems to be about silenced weapons, now.

eh... i dont think silenced weapons are more accurate. silenced weapons fire subsonic ammo. they have shorter range, less penetration, and less accuracy.
im 99% sure of this.
going back on topic, if the enemy is close, the AI will throw frags if put on suppress mode.
