i got one particular file to work today
ok hope you can follow me ok
first do 'window>show database view'
then click music tab.
then click the blue '+' icon
a window will come up prompting for theme title. call it what you like.
then right click in the big empty box on the left and select 'new theme'
then right click on that and do 'new mood'
then right click on mood and do 'new pattern.
keep right clicking and creating sub folders until you get to 3: main, incedental and rthmic
right click on one of them and do new pattern or patternset cant remebr
in the properties of that new pattern is 'file' click the folder and browse to a suitable .ogg (meet MY problem where some dont work) get one that works, preferably a small one, like ie ones in the 'jungle' folder.
right click on the new pattern in the left box and do 'play pater' just to make sure it plays (where mine fails)
if it does now add a entity 'musicthemeselector' into your map and an areabox and in the areabox down at the bottom click 'pick' and click once on the musicthemeselector make sure in the musicthemeselectors properties youve put the relvant theme title into the 'theme' field.
test it walk into the areabox and it should play.
i know its not v clear but a. im still learning myself so if anytone is advanced with msuic PLZ help us lol and b. im tired lol but wanted to help ya. lol prolly didnt much but well see have a go

`First thing i did was 'saving level resources' (\File) in the level directory of my level. then i created a folder call Music and copyed my *.mp3 there. In the Data Base Viewer i created a new library with my level name( in MUSIC), createt a theme called 'Action' and a mood called 'Heliattack' in this mood i opened the MainLayer and drag and dropped one of the layers in the list down right, in my oppinion its not wheight wich one... when i did that in the upper right coorner there is a value called filename where i copied in the filename of my own *.mp3. All you need to do now is to activate it with the area trigger and theme selector stuff allready explained above...
Hope you know what i mean http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif and ask me if you have any further questions...

One Mistake i made:
Extract the music.pak file, add your mp3 to Music_cues and pack it again, then go to filename, on the left side select music, then music cues and then your .mp3 you should copy an *.ogg too for higher settings. In this way it workes in the real game too...

what program do i use to extract these paks?
is there a certain song length that works. whats your mp3 length ERA?
reason i askis im having REAL problems with songs over 1 min it seems so my mp3 for instance whihc is 1:47 i think and also some of far cry's longer tunes like the main menu theme the only ones that wokr are the level tunes that last like 40 secs at most
http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif its annoying coz its putting a halt on my 007 map! lo lyea, i need Bond music to work!!

1: I'm using WinRar and it works perfect...
2:My MP3 has a length off 2.33 min and a file size of 3.24MB My .ogg has a size of about 5 MB so I dont think its important how long it is or how big...

I testet a file called 'coolerwaterszene' (about 2.5MB) and its working too. I orriginaly had a wav i created the mp3 and ogg with, but i didn't use it in farcry. I mean in my Music.pak is only the mp3 and ogg so i think thats not important, too. Do you use a mp3 and ogg or just an mp3 cause this seems to be important!

I personally use a tool called ACE-HIGH MP3 WAV WMA OGG Converter. It is able to convert wav to mp3 and mp3 to ogg and ogg to wav and so on this should be the right tool for ya
