This card will work just fine - I have this card and I play SC with all video settings at max at 1280X1024.

what is a good card to buy in general for all different types of games. so that i dont have to keep upgrading..
just so i know what too buy.

Radeon 9800 XT or wait and get the Radeon x800 Pro which is now out, but will be dropping in price in the next few weeks.

That depends solely on how much you want to use on a new card.
