Don't get too excited Napalm, the movie is said to be directed by John Woo...
Yah, we all already know how "realistic" his action movies are... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Maybe Dingo Chavez will never have to reload his gun (Like in I,Robot with Will Smith), or maybe Dingo will grow wings and will pick off terrorists from above...

What are you talking about? That's not unrealistic, Will Smith in I, Robot must have had a more advanced version of the gun Tom Cruise used in Mission Impossible 2, which was ALMOST limitless in ammunition, he had to actually reload it once in the movie, although it was conveniently while he had some peace and wasn't under a lot of pressure... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

For some odd reason, even though in RvS the training level is in Hereford, I thought that Rainbow was based in Langley...which is why I got confused when at the beginning of one of the missions Clark said that they were thinking of temporarily basing Rainbow at Langley. I figured they were already there...
well, i was expecting there to be some kind of Rainbow movie. Either that, or there already had been one, but it failed and so isn't as popular as the other Clancy films.
Who directed the other Clancy films, anyway?

The Hunt for Red October - John McTiernan
Patriot Games - Phillip Noyce
Clear and Present Danger - Phillip Noyce
The Sum of All Fears - Phil Alden Robinson
I don't know anything about movies, so those names mean nothing to me...

not at all... i just started the game (got it for 99 cents!), and it has 0 relation to the movie (except for the faces of affleck and freeman on the front)...
sadly it's the only (major) clancy book i haven't read, so can't comment from that perspective

I don't know about Vin, but yes, Rock is in it, but he's not the star... I read an interview with him where he specifically didn't want the lead role, and accepted a supporting role only...
That would leave the door open for someone else to be lead...

Hey, they were based in Hereford because of the restrictions that Brtain has on their press. Also I really hope they find some decent people to play the characters.
For Chavez? John Leguizimo or the cat who played him in Clear and Present Danger.
Clark? A lotta guys could play clark...who could do it well. Now no one get twisted when I suggest John Travolta, I just think he'd fit the role well and he's versatile enough to fit the rather complex character we know from the books.
Eddie Price? Man...who'd do a good job and wouldn't screw it up? No freaking clue whatsoever.
I am happy to see that the movie might be a go and by the same director who refused to do SWAT because it wasn't going to be rated R because he wants realisim.
Demon_Mustang
08-21-2005, 07:21 PM
If I was a director, I would have refused to do SWAT because the script and casting guaranteed it to be unrealistic...
Anyway, John Travolta... that makes me wanna puke!! LOL, just kidding, but he's not good at being a serious military figure, he's more of the "I'm cool" type wiseguy character.
I think Willem Dafoe was good as John Clark, in my opinion.

Yah, Guidon is correct I think, it is just another hispanic guy that can act gay really good...
crtChunk72

Yup, you're both correct... I checked IMDB and John wasn't listed in the credits... since I can't remember the characters name for certain, I can only assume it was "Renoly Santiago" playing the part of "Ramon 'Sally-Can't-Dance' Martinez"... he's the same kid that played "Phantom Phreak" in the movie "Hackers"...
Seems you boys are right... you really know your "hispanic guy that can act gay really good"

Leguizimo is a good actor, and he's type cast quite a bit. As for Travolta being that character? He was intense in Face Off, I think he's also type cast as a chilled slacker, I think he could pull it off, that however is just me.
Demon_Mustang
09-02-2005, 09:53 PM
Well, I saw the movie Basic with Travolta in it, and I did not like his acting at all. He tried to be all intense, but he always has that look on him like he's just about to smile, sit back, and be a "cool guy."
Koda-Circa1983
09-04-2005, 01:49 PM
Yeah Basic was overacted, good movie but they all were overacting. That's my biggest critique about the movie, it was so dramatic it didn't seem real.
