Okay, folks. Here is something a number of you have been waiting for:
KungFu's Enhanced AI Mod Version 1.1
http://home.attbi.com/~dmoudry/R6_Enhanced_AI_Mod_V11a.zip
From the ReadMe.txt:
------------------------------------------------------------
************************************************** **********
SINGLE PLAYER (MISSION, TERRORIST HUNT, HOSTAGE RESCUE, LONE WOLF)
+Enhanced R6, Tango and Hostage AI+
-Situational awarness increased (more responsive)
-Peripheral Vision now set to 180-360 degrees
-All R6 Members immediately crouch when you crouch
-All R6 Skills set to 100 (Assault, Sniper, Stealth, etc.)
-Situational awareness increased (more responsive)
-Tangos react more realistically to gunfire (Run, Hide, Move, etc.)
-Tangos default skill levels lowered to reflect more realism
-Tangos can only snipe if equipped with a sniper rifle
-Tangos allowed to leave guard positions and hunt for you -- They Will!
-Tangos can go prone (may not happen that much).
-Hostages awarness increased (more responsive when moving)
-Hostages programmed to follow Player and R6 more effectively
-Hostages can now go prone (may or may not happen often)
-Hostages can be found in fetal position on some maps
-Hostages now equipped with heavy armor to keep them alive longer
NOTE: Heavy armor only stops shotun, pistol and some
machine pistols depending on range. Does not work against
assault weapons and is only intended to give your teams
a few seconds to keep hostages from being killed which causes
a hostage rescue mission to be failed.
MULTIPLAYER:
CO-OP (HOSTAGE RESCUE, MISSION, TERRORIST HUNT, LONE WOLF):
-All changes made to Tango, R6 and Hostage AI applies
-C-Mag weapons completely removed and replaced with default versions
-Replacement template for all official retail maps (MP, SP,
CO-OP) which makes Tangos slightly easier to deal with
during mission modes
ADVERSARIAL:
-Entire Normal, Non-C-Mag arsenal tweaked to more realistic values
(includes silenced weapons)
-Recoil reduced on some weapons
-More accuracy and shortened reticle times
-Grenade blast (energy) increased slightly
-HBSensor zoom increased to 3x
-Default MP5SD sounds replaced with Rouge Spear sounds
NOTE: C-Mag equipped weapons not tweaked in this release.
If there is strong community support for that, this can be
done in future versions.
Installation:
************************************************** *********
Extract all .u files to RavenShield\system
Extract all .uax and .SBO files to RavenShield\sounds
Extract all .tpt files to RavenShield\templates
IN ORDER FOR SUCCESSFUL MP CO-OP AND ADVERSERIAL PLAY,
BOTH CLIENT AND SERVERS MUST HAVE THIS MOD INSTALLED.
------------------------------------------------------------
BACK UP YOUR RAVEN SHIELD SUBDIRECTORY (C:\RavenShield, or C:\Program Files\Red Storm Entertainment\RavenShield).
Do this until servers have this Mod installed or you will NOT be able to play normal MP with the currently modified files (you will get a package mismatch error).
I look forward to your feedback as I want to see if the changes really work for others and what still needs changing or balancing.
In addition, if there are custom maps that need Tango templates, let me know and I will create or edit existing ones.
Have fun! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hi, NICE mod!!
One thing.. The mp5SD sound, u got a loop on tree bullet round.
So when u fire full auto it still sounds like u fire tree bullet bursts fast.
But the mod is NICE! Nice AI and ather, if u like i would be happy to hear more new weapon sounds
I realy want an option to turn everyones signatures off so I dont have to see them every time.
Your signatures are bigger than your posts.

Version 1.1a is now out.
Changes include:
***Installer/Uninstaller, On/Off Switch so you can activate and deactivate the Mod so you don't have to back up your RvS folder.
***All weapon sounds returned to default to make the Mod more universal for all players to eliminate problems with custom sound files and not having them play while in game.
http://home.attbi.com/~dmoudry/R6_Enhanced_AI_Mod_V11a.zip
Read the ReadMe.txt for installation and how to turn the Mod on and off when you want to.
Future Mod additions (1.2, 1.3): Iron Sights!

kung fu
i installed the mod (nice job with the AI), but sometimes (not all the time) when i get wounded my screen goes all weird (kinda like the game wants to crash but cant) ie it freezes (image and sound), and goes all pixely. when it rights itself of course i am dead because i cannot move or shoot.
i think maybe this is because i did not know where to install the .tph files (just extracted them to Redstorm/ravenshield folder). any suggestions?
p.s. i am d/l 1.1a as we speak. cheers.

Hey great job!!!!!!!!
The only two problems i see are:
1: the hostage really shouldn't have any armor.
2: i think the r6 skills should vary(not all be set at 100.)
And those are just my opinons, great job.

One more suggestion, if you can find someone who know how to program, or if you do:
Make the install/uninstall mod options into a program, and also include a button to start r6. Then people can have one shortcut to that program, when they open it it askes if they want the mod inabled or disabled, and then starts raven shield.

Couple of things:
1) If it is freezing on you... Make sure you are running 1.3 as I don't know if it is backwards compatible with 1.2 or 1.1.
In addition, make sure your PC isn't over heating, you have a good power supply for your components and that the latest official drivers for your video card, sound card and mother board are installed and not beta ones like Nvidia releases from time to time.
Also, all you have to do is extract all the files to your RavenShield subfolder (C:\RavenShield; C:\Program Files\RSE\RavenShield) with version 1.1a...
Because everything is in its own subdirectory inside the zip archive.
All the .tph files go in RavenShield\templates by the way.
2) I agree that Hostages shouldn't have armor... But there is a trigger (coded trigger) that causes the Tangos to kill the hostages on HR missions that make those missions almost unplayable because you can't resuce the hostages no matter how close you get or how many Tangos you kill.
The armor is to give your teams a few extra seconds to keep the Tangos from killing the hostage and the armor isn't effective against assault rifles so most of the time it is a moot point.
3) As far as an installer...
What you could do is make shortcuts to the Install and Remove.bat files and have them on your desktop alongside your regular RvS shortcuts so all you have to do is click on the install or remove, let it do its thing, and then click on your normal RvS icon and it will be the version you want it to be depending on which .bat file you clicked first.
Thanks for the positive words.
I am currently working on Iron Sights with another Forum member and we WILL have them in about a week without the SDK!

The mod has been incredible and vastly altered the previous experience of RVS. One request. Is there away to have the install program overwrite previous versions? The installer would not install becuase it recognizes a previous version and believes the mod is already installed.

I think having an install/unistall application would be better. I know a lot of people(like me) who hate having cluttered desktops, startmenues, etc. And with the current setup it adds 2 shorcuts in addition to the Rvs shortcut.

I know why this happened.
This was the first time -- version 1.1a -- Where I implemented a renaming scheme (the INSTALL and REMOVE.bat files actually rename your original files and back them up and then rename them back to what they were when you "remove" the Mod).
So in other words, this won't happen again and you WILL be able to overwrite previous versions with updated versions when I release them because the same renaming scheme will be in place (just be sure when you extract the files that you say "Yes" when Winzip wants to overwrite identical, older files).
Does that make sense?
As far as an actual installer...
This is as easy as it gets (the shortcuts). Meaning, I don't know what more control you want over the mod.
Writing a program where you say select which "version" to play before you launch the game would be redundant and pointless as it would take more effort for me to code it than for you to hit the INSTALL.bat shortcut or actual file itself.
In addition, you can put shortcuts in your start menu programs files and keep them OFF your desktop.
It's really easy and it what I do for a lot of applications I use that are made by third party coders (not retail apps) and I just make shortcuts in my start menu so all I have to do is hit start and scroll up to what I want and Boom! I'm off.
If you don't know how to put shortcuts on your start menu, just look it up on Google or use the Windows Help guide as it is very easy and once you learn how to do it, you can use it for almost everythnig you need and keep your desktop clean. Mine is a black background with the Recycle bin on it. That's it! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
QUESTION FOR ALL: What do you think of some of the weapon tweaks?
I'm asking because that part is for MP as well so I want to see what you guys think.
Hopefully, all the guns reflect more realistic handling as if you were a highly trained CT Operative and there is reduced "spray and pray"... But let me know what you find as it will greatly help me balance everything out for Adversarial play.

Beyond excellent. Thanks for the response. I am not sure if you realize the buzz this has created as your mod institutes a fundamental change more profound to the RVS gaming experience than a new map or weapon. If there is anything the community can do to assist your efforts please ask.

I liked the changes to the AI, the enemies no longer have many problems with standing in the open sniping me with a pistol. The teammate AI seems to react better too.

Thank you again for your continued support.
I've posted this on theplatoon's forums, ravenshield mods forums and Enhanced2K (RvS site).
Hopefully, more people will discover it.
I'm doing this not to boost my ego, but because the more people who play it the more I can make things better and hopefully if people see how much better the weapons are for not just SP but MP as well -- what a lot of people play almost exclusively -- Then maybe the mod will become "adopted" by the community and put on more servers which gives me a reason to continue with it beyond what I've done now.
The only other thing that is coming is Iron Sights (for those that want them of course; you don't have to use them) which a fellow forum member and I are working on as we speak.
In fact, we've gotten I.S. to work without a flaw and in a way that it isn't dependent on version number of the RvS...
But if no one is playing the Mod (or the game itself) then it's all going to go to waste which I think is a shame, but oh, well...
So. Next up is I.S for version 1.2 and possibly better weapon statistics as far as ballistics like giving silenced pistols more of a punch since they... Suck... To be frank as it currently stands (we may jump ahead to version 1.3 if I put this many changes in).

kung fu just wondering if 1.1a is standalone or if i need to have 1.1 installed as well to receive all benefits (reinstalled RvS)?
as for the weapons to tell you the truth i never had that much of a problem with the original setup but your mod hasn't hurt them any so thumbs up (have you weakened the pistols any?)

1.1a is stand alone.
Thanks for asking.
I'm finding people are having problems with the installer/remover so for the next release (update) I am going to put out two versions:
One with the installer/remover for those that have limited HD space and just want to use their original 1.3 RvS installation.
A second one that does not have the installer/remover and that will specifically REQUIRE the user to back up their RvS folder for normal SP and MP Play if they have enough HD space.
Re: Pistols...
I didn't change any of the damage values per weapon... But that is coming in that I and other Modders have discovered that beyond a shadow of a doubt, all the weapons in this game have the exact same stopping power regardless if it is a pistol, shotgun, SMG or assault rifle. That is pathetic since UBI claimed to release this game based on "realism".
I plan on making the values per weapon more powerful and different from one another based on real world data like making the silenced weapons actually DO damage at close range like they are supposed to in real life (like sneaking up on and shooting a Tango in the back of his head at point blank range should KILL him and not make him flinch and turn around).

Is the scripting provisional as regards hit location? I was wondering if there is a need for one stop shots such as the one you mentioned, to actually be head shots. Or does UBI's realism allow a foot shot? Some of these tangos seem to be wearing more effective body armor than Team Rainbow. I have unloaded at point blank with a 10mm and had a tango turn around and pop me. Were ballistics the exact same for every weapon? The G3 seems to be the only weapon with the correct effect.
XyZspineZyX

The way UBI's ballistic system works -- and I use the word loosely -- Is completely screwed up.
Take a look at this post and also the one on platoon.com that is linked there as well (first post):
http://forums.ubi.com/messages/message_view-topic.asp?name=us_ravenshield_gd&id=ztexw
In addition, RvS has four main hit zones: Head/Torso/Leg/Arm and are based upon "kill points" with the head only needing one or two and all others three, four, or sometimes five.
Each kill point = a number of rounds depending on the weapon and strength of the round (although, after reading that thread you will see there is NO difference between the rounds or weapons) so you can kill someone with a 92F shot to the head if you manage to click away enough times to equal one or two kill points (approx. 5-6 rounds; one from a SMG).
This is why you theoretically can kill someone in this game by "gimping" them in the leg or arm. It's not very realistic any way you put (forget the bleed to death and trama arguments that don't mean jack as far as gameplay goes).

UPDATE:
I have just released a version of the Mod that does not include the installer/remover for those having problems with either installing the Mod or reverting back to RvS 1.3:
http://home.attbi.com/~dmoudry/R6_Enhanced_AI_Mod_NoInstall.zip
1) YOU DO NOT NEED THIS VERSION OF THE MOD UNLESS:
A) You already downloaded v1.1a and are having problems either installing (turning on) the Mod and/or reverting (turning off) the Mod and going back to normal RvS 1.3.
2) You must have adaquate hard disk space to back up your current RvS 1.3 installation (an extra 2.0 Gigabytes) as this version of the Mod permanently overwrites your default files making MP internet play impossible unless a server is running the same mod (which will be coming shortly).
THIS MOD IS INTENED FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EXTRA HARD DISK SPACE (2.0 GIGABYTES) AND ARE ABLE TO BACK UP THEIR CURRENT INSTALLATION OF RAVENSHELD AND/OR INSTALL A SECOND INSTALLATION OF RAVEN SHIELD AS WELL.
TWO FULL INSTALLATIONS OF RVS 1.3 ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS VERSION OF THE MOD. ONE WILL BE USED STRICTLY FOR THE ENHANCED SP and MP GAMEPLAY (WHEN SEVERS START RUNNING THE MOD) AND THE OTHER FOR DEFAULT SP AND MP 1.3 INTERNET GAMEPLAY.
Instructions on installing a second installation of RvS as well as backing up your current installtion are included in the Install.txt

Thanks for the concise clarification. I had been puzzling over UBI's scripting and been unable to deduce any pattern except the apparent lack of hit detection (I now understand that better thanks to you) and the relative sameness of the ballistics. I can only surmise this was done for simplicity. If I understand you correctly then the framework for differentiating various ballistics impacts was in place, it was just never implemented by the dev team. We have spent the past two nights with 6 players in co-op and had a 'new game' experience due to your mod. As regards the iron sites mod and it's necessity, it is needed. Not for the main weapons as everyone is utilizing some sort of optics, but rather for the pistols. Most units (SF, Delta, SEALs, SBS, SAS) still use iron sites on pistols. Has anyone looked at tweaking the overly slow snap shooting movement in the game? (simulation of optics or iron sights brought to bear)
