I've been having an idea for a mod in mind for quite some time now. Started back when battlefield got popular. I then tried Blitzkrieg (strategy/war game), and thought it had some good supply lines ideas. And the new Joint Operations beta has some commander view, I haven't quite figured out yet, but I like the idea of combined RTS and FPS games.

Gameplay is Attrition. Each team tries to capture towns to use the buildings therein as base structures. This gives them reinforcements and vehicles, that arrive from off the map.

I'd love to start doing this mod myself, but my knowledge in coding is VERY bad http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This is very sketchy, I know, but if I figure out how to attach text documents, I can show you the idea in a little larger detail.

And please, don't use up your and my time by flaming. Just tell me kindly if I shouldn't post this here, and we're both still happy.

Here are some of the mod ideas, hope they convert to forum without too many word wraps.

=======
CLASSES
-------

COMMANDERS have satellite uplink to view the battlefield and assign orders to squads.
Squads are 4 players linked together, order to one man is given to all four.
Orders are defend-, attack-, build at-, resupply at- given location/object.
They also form squads and coordinate reinforcements to bases.
If commanders don't coordinate reinforcements, players can form squads themselves.

SOLDIERS can be machinegunners, snipers, riflemen, squad leaders and anti-tank or anti-air troops.
Squad leaders can request ground and air-support or fire-missions from commanders of their local base.
Squad leaders also have a satellite map computer and -phone. Next in line becomes leader when last one dies.

ENGINEERS can repair, disable, acquire or build certain objects, and also rearm troops, but not vehicles.
Objects like mines, vehicles, bridges and base structures equipment are all targets for engineers.
Engineers get supplies from barracks when they rest there. These supplies are used for building, rearming and repairs.

MEDICS stabilize bleeding damage and heal wounds slowly.
They can also revive dead team-mates.
Medics also get supplies when resting in barracks, like engineers.

PILOTS specialize in driving a certain type of vehicle.
Either plane, helo, tracked or wheeled vehicle.
They can also use any weapons onboard vehicles better.

========
VEHICLES
--------

PLANES have radar and guided missiles. Can be either fighters, bombers or both, or transport and freight planes.

HELOS have machineguns and guided or unguided rockets. Can be support and/or transport and freight helos.

TRACKED vehicles are either tanks, apcs or both. They can have cannons, rockets and machineguns.

WHEELED vehicles are either trucks, cars or fighting vehicles with machineguns or rockets.

========
GAMEPLAY
--------

ATTRITION is a game where two teams try to secure towns and other important locations.
Buildings there are converted to base structures and used by commanders.
Structures can be airfields, headquarters, barracks, warehouses or depots.
Each team's base has supplies. They are used for respawning and new vehicles.
More supplies can be used to give troops better equipment and upgrade weapons.
A team wins if it controls a preset sum of bases on the map, or opposing team runs out of all supplies and troops.

==========
STRUCTURES
----------

AIRFIELDS allow planes and helos to land as new vehicles at the base. NPCs bring planes and helos to base.
When the NPCs have landed, they leave the aircraft and settle in artillery positions or base strutures as staff.
Aircraft are refueled and rearmed when they land at airfields.

DEPOTS allow vehicles like tanks and trucks to drive from off the map by NPCs and arrive at that base.
If the base also has an airfield, vehicles can be brought in with planes and choppers as well.
When the NPCs have arrived, they leave the vehicles and settle in artillery positions or base strutures as staff.
Vehicles are refueled and rearmed when they stop at depots.

BARRACKS allow reinforcement troops to arrive at that base in squads from off the map by respawning on foot.
If base has a depot or an airfield as well, they can arrive in vehicles and aircraft, too.
Troops are treated and rearmed when they rest in barracks.

HEADQUARTERS allow squad leaders to call for support and fire-missions from base personnel.
Base NPCs will fire artillery or take available aircraft or vehicles for support missions.

WAREHOUSES will receive supplies from NPC controlled freight helos, planes or trucks.
These supplies add to the local base supplies used for reinforcements and resupply.

=========
ABILITIES
---------

WEAPONS operation is difficult when moving fast and not aiming.
Soldiers have better aim than pilots, medics and engineers.

DAMAGE is bigger when it hits vital organs or arteries in the body. This damage will get worse if not treated by a medic.
Head and heart shots are lethal as hell. Medic and wounded are stuck as long as treatment occurs.
First, wounded or dead must be stabilized or revived. After treatment, patients slowly recover.
Vehicle damage is also larger if vehicles are hit in critical areas, but engineers can repair them.

I know, I know... Too much bloody text http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But if you like the idea, and would like to TRY making this happen, just gimme a mail and we'll see how this turns out, though it's gonna take a LOT of work and time.

The biggest problem is coding, but if you can help me out a bit, I THINK I'll learn quick and be able to code something myself as well.

Skills in all other modding areas are also appreciated.

e-mail me at: mikkelfh@hotmail.com
and let me know what you think, if you wanna join the idea, and what your qualifications (nice word) are http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My skills are mainly in mapping, and a VERY tiny bit in modeling and texturing. Sound editing is also something I'm almost good at http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you wanna contact me, then I will sometimes be in #farcrymod at beyondirc.net in mIRC...
Name's Sjakal... seeya there, maybe? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And this goes for any interested persons! Maybe we can even make this work!
