I think I am missing some materials. The sandbox editor documentation says to create a beach and use mat_sand for the material type. I don't have mat_sand. The documentation also mentions materials like mat_sanddry. I do not have this either In fact, I have very few materials and I cannot find any others anywhere in the file directories. Am I missing something? Are there more materials elsewhere? I don't understand why I am missing these files.

Also, I am missing all the detail files. When I try to load details onto a texture I cannot do it. The directory for details seems to eb empty. Furthermore, my version of sandbox says beta on it. Is that the same for all of you?

By the way, I bought the US retail version of Far Cry yesterday at Gamestop, so I know it is an official copy of the game.

1. The materials don't currently make it into the drop down list automatically. If you double click any object, or drop it into your map, any materials it uses will then become available to you, but this is the only work around I know for the moment. You don't have to use mat_sand for the walkthrough, mat_concrete will do, although it obviously isn't perfect!

2. As for the details, they should be in your textures\terrain\details\ folder. There are other "details" folders, but that is the main one.

3. As long as you have v.1.0.1230 displayed in the About window, then you have the same version as everyone else http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Hi, I noticed this too and there have already been a couple of threads regarding this issue. It might be in the best interest of all involved to have a sticky with known issues and bugs with the editor.

Now the question does arise once the walkthrough is finished. How do I get this sand material into the scene? Is there a quick reference place in the editor where one can look for objects with the material properties?
Is this a matter of trial and error?

I have all of my scripts unpacked in the script directory still without any luck to get them to load. I can load them into the editor via the console, but as soon as I generate terrain, they revert back to the limited list of surface properties. One would think that the sand material would be available from the start. What other objects/entities have this property?

thanks,
