ahhh yes adventures... lets see...

well first, i got caught at the airport for the INCREDIBLY ILLEGAL act of sneaking a bag of "fun size" snickers in a box, which they apprently thought was some case of plastic explosives or soemthing because "they were packed very tightly" (whatever)

then i got on to the plane, flew to ALASKA where i enjoyed First Class seats (YEAH KOREAN AIR MILEAGE!!! 90% OF THOSE MILES ARENT EVEN MINE!!)

i saw "This Land" played in Korean, which i thought was the funniest thing since... Digger made Honorary Veteran.

Im going to SAT Academies for my last SATIIs (Writing and IIC math) and my writing teacher, who is a korean college grad from cali, keeps saying "Dude" a lot to the point where i would bet all the money i have that she was conceived at a Woodstock concert or something.

I noticed, dogs stare at me in a strange fashion.

i met my korean friends for the first time in two and a half years. they said i got a serious tan. apparently, i would pass for a puerto rican in the eyes of many koreans.

i played GR for the first time in 4 MONTHS!!!

right now it's the "HOT" season, so like expect to lose about a gallon and a half of sweat daily.

everything is dirt cheap. for example, i can get on the subway for about 50-80 cents and get to all the "important" places such as town squares, "famous" alleys of shops/restraunts/amusement parks/etc, malls, etc.

i can get a coke for about 50 cents or so (in the korean equiv)

internet cafes everywhere.

STARCRAFT everywhere. (hell, there's even a game channel where occasionally you'll see like Star Craft champions verse. it's a crazy channel)

Black Hawks and Chinooks are a common sight in the air. (Incase some of you dont know, the two Koreas are still technically at war)

Police! Police! Police!

well yes and no about that.

occasionally you'll see on the news a north korean raider cross into south korean waters and a chase here and there. occasionally a fire fight or two along the DMZ and such.

but "official"//"public" places like Panmunjom (the blue buildings you see on TV where the talks are held) and the "Tongil Tower" (Unification Tower) things are VERY quite. it's almost freaky to just stare off into North Korean territory. it seems like just a short walk away but you know...


i read once from an AP news reporter that Panmunjum is one of the scariest places you can go and i agree with that statement. just looking at two people of the same origin, decent, ancestoral background, history, and beliefs, holding weapons at each other...

to think that the families seperated from the war, CANNOT go across the parallel w/o a VERY SPECIAL permission that is rarely given to meet their families ONLY for a short time, is very sad. atleast in previous wars, people could cross the DMZ somewhat freely (though it might be dangerous) and in a few years the war would be over... but here... it's not...

my heart aches when i turn on Korean TV and watch the seperated families just cry for their fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, friends, relatives and etc...
