View Full Version : Random Map Generation

I know I'm going to get a lot of: "Play more and you'll have the maps memorized, too." and "Quit whining.", but I have to suggest this. Since quite a bit of 'skill' in MP mode is merely memorizing the maps, knowing from which obstruction the players will emerge and then 'popping' them, perhaps GR2 could have a random map generator (for MP at least) so completely new and never-before-seen maps could be generated each time...

Don't try to run away - you'll only die tired.

this would be difficult to implement BuckoM. You see, Ghost Recon checks at the start of the game to ensure that all the maps on the clients match each other perfectly. So every time a new map is made, everyone would need to be given it, making it impossible for 56k users to use this feature.
Don't mess with a big monkey with a handgun...unless you have an M-16

GR already has Random Insertions, albeit only 4 of them.

All that needs to be transferred from the server to the clients is a random number generator's seeds. So this is the least problem.
