Im thinking of buying it and the stores close in 1 hour.. i wanna get it for MP and was wondering:
Many players on the servers?
Lots of bugs?
Are there any custom maps to get?
Any mods made so you can be more than 4?
Should i get it?
Thx.

a while a go i would have said YESS NOW RUN!!
as i only bought it 4 the MP
but i dont think this game is now on its decline.
+only 8 maps... no mods and no custom maps
[but if you play the game you would relise that four is the ideal number]

Actually imo it is worth the money. Gameplay is fun even with the glitches. It just takes a bit to learn all of the little secrets and skills that will let you live.
Once you get in a group of buds the game gets even better. The intial learning curve is tough, but it seems that there has been a turnover of players. Newer players now outnumber the pros. So if you get in now there should be plenty of fun to be had.

Many people who have had this game from the beginning left, but you should still buy it. Hope yoou enjoy it! And yes, avoid ranking games. 95% of all ranking servers contain ranking *****s.

i have had this game from the beginning and besides my 3-4 week break i had while playing swg i have be playing the game with my team mate atleast 3 or 4 times a week. The most annoying part of the game is the the waiting for the 4th person to arrive, and if your really lucky the 3rd person that arrived leaves just as the 4th person comes in.
Its looking like its time for another break what with the release of star wars battlefront.

Curious, did you decide to buy it last week or not? If so let me know what time you are going to play and maybe we can meet up and i will show you around the maps.

Yeah, you should. It's really worth the money. MP is great, better, when you play with yer mateys. SP is also awesome with a gripping storyline and easy gameplay. Get it now and start playin'!

the mp isnt that great... the maps get old quick, and with no new content coming out, the game is going to die off when sc3 hits. so just save ur money for acouple more months, and wait for sc3.

Your questions...
1) Depends on when you go on. Varies between 50-150
2) Not as many as there used to be. The most annoying are the mic bug, which happens occassionally, and getting randomly dropped from Ubi.com.
3) No, and custom mapping is near impossible. Some people were thinking of trying to decode stuff, but I haven't heard any news of it for a while now.
4) No, and this game doesn't need more than 4. IMO, having more than 4 players in a game would ruin the experience. The whole point of the game is teamwork with 1 partner, and that's the way the maps are structured.
5) Yes*. This is the best multiplayer game I've played to date, even with the glitches. It could use some gameplay tweaking, but you can't expect every developer to give that kind of support to their games. There truly is no other game of this kind for multiplayer. Also, the single player ain't half-bad either, but if you played the original there isn't really anything novel about it except better AI.
*You will only appreciate this game if you have the patience to overcome the learning curve. The first week or 2 of having this game will result in you losing 75% of your matches as merc and 95% of your matches as spy. Once you get passed that though, the game is fun as hell, especially when you find someone you can work well with.
Also, I agree to avoid ranking servers, especially when you are starting out. People in ranking servers tend to use the cheapest possible tactics in order to increase their points, because for some reason they think it'll get them somewhere in life. Before you get worried about all the possible "cheap" tactics (which range from EMF or motion w/ laser to spawn camping to ss+dj, the latter being highly subjective), many hosts will restrict such things, and you'll find that many of the experienced people just don't use those tactics in general, especially on someone new. Just have some patience, find some mature people in a server, and add them to your friends list. Eventually, since the community is rather small, you'll come to know who the mature players are and who are the idiots.

It's an amazing online game if you are willing to take the time to learn it and get good at it. I've been playing it since it was released and I'm not stopping soon.

Price? Goodness a game lasts at least a week worth of playing time; say even 20 hours. What can you do for 20 hours that would cost less. Hmm driving to work is about 20 bucks, lunch daily is about 20 (not school lunch), and of course the snacks. That adds up to one game in a week. So starve for a week if its that big of a deal.

20 dollars for lunch? What the hell do you eat?!?
But at least you're right about SCPT...the game sells for like what, $30 now? I know when I bought it in the spring it cost me $35. Most console games cost $50, so I think $30 is a bargain.

3 reasons....we need a bigger community...this game is much cheaper than sc3...i dont consider march to be soon.
Spekkio9

Yeah man...from now to march is like 6 months. It's definitely worth any game for 6 months, as that's about how long they would last anyway (if it's really good).
Doom 3 has taken a back shelf and I've only had it for 1 month. Nothing really innovative about it to hold my interest, at least until the hell on earth mod comes out.
