CDRWS doesnt support the newest "SAFEDISC" protection wich protects the data of the raven shield.cd.

you can 1.- change your cdrom drive
2.- update the firmwares of your cdrom ( wich needs MSDOS and floppy drive, also that the cdrom manufacturer has the correct image file ( it is like flashing your bios ).

3.- cry to UBI ( dont think they will answer) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Ok I know all about what you just said. And here is all of the stuff that i have tried out.... I dont use raven-shield in my cdrw and my cd-rom doesnt have firmware updates, but it would run raven before i upgraded mobo, videocard and harddrive. now after i upgraded those 3 parts it hasnt ran raven-shield. my cd-rom will run any other game except this one and i just dont understand. everything is fine with the game and cd-rom and all that, it just seems not to read the game after i install it. i have heard that it might have something to do with nvidia drivers, but i am not sure. my computer isnt screwed up or anything, it just dont run this one game so i dont know /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

hmm did you reinstalled Raven shield too?
sometimes the game thinks the correct cd is "BLA BLA BLA:\"
so its triying to read the other drive and not the correct one.
happens sometimes when you add a new hardware, but the installation of certain games keeps the same.

Ion, do you have any virtual drives installed? If so, you'll need to remove them and uninstall any buring apps. That was the only way I could reinstall RS after the 1.3 patch.

I have exactly the same problem as ION-Fred!

Since upgrading my Mother-Board, RAM and Hard-Disks + Video Card (To a Geforce FX 5200), I have been unable to get past the "Insert CD-2" message!!!

I have a CD/RW drive, but no virtual-drives and the game worked fine prior to Patch 1.2, so it must be something to do with the new Safe-Disc protection which even discriminates against some genuine-Users as well! I am very disillusioned now with UBI games (whereas I loved them before).

I hope they get a more tolerant-version of Safedisc for patch 1.4, otherwise I may never trust another UBISOFT game again, as I don't want to shell-out AU$100 for what is now just an expensive coaster!

Damn it, I have the same problem too after Patch1.2.

Now I can only use Patch 1.1 and cannot play on line.

I have WinXP & Direct-X 9.0a - It worked with my Sony (CRX140) CD/RW drive fine, prior to patch 1.2, so I don't know what gives now! It can only be the copy-protection changes in patches since 1.1!

Unfortunately, there are no firmware updates that I know of for my drive that may get past this problem...

my question is... why can i not run this game but i can run older and newer games on my computer. i can run every single game that i have bought except this one, so whats the deal with this game???

EA support passed these 2 solutions:

Option 1: If you have Windows XP or Windows 2000, make another account with admin privilegies. Install and play the game from this account. (This worked for me)

Option 2:
- type MSConfig(ME And XP) in the "Run..." box and click OK.
- uncheck Load startup programs, autoexec.bat and config.sys
- Click OK and restart.
- Go to device manager, IDE/ATAPI Controllers, goto to properties of Primary IDE Channel and int the Advanced Settings tab change the transfer mode to PIO for both devices.
Repeat the process for the Secundary IDE Channel.
- Restart, Install the game.

I have found a simple solution to this as well. I had the same problem. Install the game. When you go to finish, before clicking finish, reinsert the first cd. Works for me...
