If a guy (me) has a great idea for a mod(for arguements sake lets say the best idea u ever hearda).
What chance would He have of getting a Mod Team together, when he has no specific 'tech' skillz? Just General production skillz.
Is there any chance of This possible?

it is possiblei suppose, but difficult. If you ar very charasmatic and a great leader than that is great in an office for motiation but over teh internet a lot harder. This means that it is hard for you to lead and maybe even convey ideas because u dont know what the engine can do or how to go about doing things even if it was possible. That doesnt mean you shouldnt try though. Maybe even let us know what the idea is and see if ppl want to help. If the idea is as good as you say then u never know...

Just finished the game http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif..does it ever end!! lol, just when u think it is over u got more to do.
Thx for the positive advice, trying could never hurt, so very true. I have read something about the sdk's not even being available so no mods coming out for a while?
This makes me reluctent to share my idea just yet, just incase some guy with talent goes and makes something without me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Or maybe it is better to start trying to get ppl together before the sdk's come out, ahh i dunno. Be sure to see my "Need Mod Team" post on the forum soon ;D

First thing I have learned about modding is that sometimes your going to have to let your precious Idea go. Meaning if you really want to get a mod team together you going to have to let that bird fly so we can see what is motivating you.

If you dont have any basic art skills then I would suggest you better have one kick arse Design Document. fact of the matter is that modding is not easy and the people do not want what little time they have wasted by someone who is nothing more than an idea man. I am not saying that you cant or shouldn' put a team together, all i am saying is that if you dont have any art skills you need to have a very specific direction for the team to follow and this is all down via design doc. There are some places on the web, try a google search on the proccess and the ingrediants that make up a design doc.

Seriously though, good luck and I wish you all the best.

just start riting your design doc, and never give up... then when you have a very, and i mean very extensive design document, start looking for talent...in yourself, or other people

Well, I would say it will be difficult unless the idea is just so awesome that it would get people going. Most modders are not too motivated by "idea guys" who have no capability of doing anything for the team except "giving ideas". Without any modding skills, you will have very little respect from the team because you can't contribute to the success of the mod. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't try, but it will be difficult. If I were you, I would try making maps. That isn't a difficlut process with this engine and you can show that you can help with more than "ideas".

As Mange1 said... Learn to map.

Sandbox is possibly the easiest map editor I've worked with, and for the results it can generate it is nothing short of brilliant.

Also, you're not the only one with brilliant ideas http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I have an idea based on a piece of writing I am doing, but I just don't know how well FarCry can support urban areas such as cities or towns... Because tropical islands just won't cut it for what I'd need.
