Hi
If like me you are getting a lot of freezes and stutters with Forgotten Battles you might want to try this for a fix.
You need to download the Geforce Tweek utilility to get access to some of the newer drivers 'hidden' features.
Under the tweek select Open GL settings.
Under open GL settings uncheck the box for Texture Pre-cache at bottoms of the list.
Thats is simple as that.
When me and my friends tried this it pretty much solved all our troubles and the game now runs smooth even online.
If you try this please post how you get on below. So far it seems to have been a very good solution to the freeze/stutters problem

I'm really jealous because it did not help my system. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
(See my thread about this very same issue just a few days ago.)
Actually, here is a link to a thread on another forum which has a lot more info. The thread here really went nowhere.

Texture precache should be on by default. That might be why you didn't notice a difference.

Fennec,
Yes, it WAS on. That's why I disabled it, as per the instructions in the first post here.
That's the whole point of this 'fix'...to disable Texture Precache.../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

This actually worked for me guys. Before it was a stutter or at times mostly when your on some one six and shooting it would pause for more than a few seconds. Once the pause was gone I'd find myself ahead of the enemy or climbing.
I applied that tweak and I no longer have those stutters. Not one stutter or pause now!! Thanks Scotty_EAF_602!

Did you follow the instructions in the SimHQ link posted at the top of this post? That's what I did and it worked great. Just click on that link above and scroll down till you find the step by step instructions. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I was extremely disappointed that FB stuttered so badly on my system (XP2500+ Barton, Epox 8RDA nforce2, 512MB DDR-333[dual channel mode], geforce FX5600). I tried everything I could think of to get rid of the stutter, and finally following this tip, I used rivatuner as suggested. Now I have no more stutters and can run the game on maximum settings no probs.
cheers!

Before applying this fix I had some small stutters, barely noticable but still worth trying to get rid of.
After applying the fix I have great big stutters (flying offline, every ten or so seconds).
What gives?

512MB SDRAM
GeForce420MX

Tantalized...
I have read many old posts to try to remedy my stutter/freeze problem before asking for this help. I would like to attempt to make the changes talked about in this post but the link provided for help is no longer available at simhq.com. Does anyone recall where this GeForce tweak utility can be d/l from? I need it bad.
...still tantalized. ~Lee

This sounds great, but hasn`t anyone noticed that it says the final version 3.2 will not work with higher than 29.60 drivers?
Is there a newer version? Or have you guys found it still works with later drivers anyway? If it works have you noticed any side effects?

SeaFire I gave it a try this morning I'm using the 56.55 forceware driver & have had no side effects so far. Aircraft no harder to spot than they were before like some accounts from other users. If it doesnt work just change the setting back no harm done.
