It is now officially a sad day for those who were hoping for a continuing ever evolving URU live. With Cyan Bill's newest announcement today they are scrapping URU-live.

Perhaps sometime in the future They wil again try the live experiance. That is what we al went through the long beta and prologe for after all. It won't feel right not to be able to explore the "mods" with those we have made friends with over the past year. I wil miss all of you wonderful people and am hoping sometime in the future we can all get together again. hopefully in a bit less buggy and laging D'ni Ae'gura.

It is a sad day for all of us, in many ways... but we will all still be here! And there really will be a lot of very exciting developments coming up pretty shortly. This is a really amazing community, and we've been through a lot together (yes, I really am here too, and wish I could be more active in the forums more often). The community won't go away, Cyan Worlds and Ubisoft are here to stay, we'll be working on new stuff and more for Uru... so please temper your sadness- or let us share it, and then move on...

I'm sad too. But the main thing is Cyan still has a job http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If they didn't have a job, there would never be new Myst and Uru related stuff http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

((((everyone))))

Just read that URU live is closing for good on Feb 9th. This has been a great adventure and with such fantastic fellow exployers. We've shared our discoveries and our frustrations. We've been a part of testing one of the most encompassing and compelling online RO games ever contemplated. I'm glad I was a part of it and I'm going to miss this world and all of you.
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES. LONG LIVE URU!!!!!!

Unless Uru Live is made again in the future, we do have one thing no-one else will have. The memories of playing with our friends http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

That is so true John. I must try to remember that as my heart sags with sadness and the tears overflow. It has been a truly wonderful experience to be with all of you (well most all of you) as we went through the joys and frustrations of Uru beta and Uru Prologue.

But we will still have our joys in the forms of expansion packs. We will still be able to see each other here in the forums. So Uru is not gone....Uru does live!!

I'm repeating here a haiku that I wrote a few months ago. It seemed a bit sentimental at the time but now I thought it seemed appropriate as an epitaph - and as a new beginning.

I know why you weep
Stand here awhile in silence
And let your tears fall

This ground is sacred
Close your eyes against the sun
Be still now and pray

Out of the silence
A voice carried on the breeze
Do you not hear it?

Listen carefully
A lost civilization
Is speaking to you

This is unreal. There are so many people out here, there is never room on the server day and night. They havent even openned the server enough to handle the influx and they assume that not enough people would join? A payment method hasn't even been extended to us yet and they assume they would not have enough subscribers? Not to mention that its only a month into the official release. None of it makes sense, interest is just begining to generate.

I've said my farwell to Uru Live. I went to the city. It felt like the last day of my holiday, when I didn't want to leave. I linked to the Ferry Terminal and walked to the library. The view from the promontory, with the sad music playing, is my favourite part of the city.

I said goodbye. And jumped off.

Thiethris that is one of the most depressing endings. I too went to the city yesterday, collected the last GZ markers just for the heck of it, walked around making sure I saw everything(wondering all the while what was behind the remaining barriers and doors), and then linked back to the nexus to finally see inner chamber of the Great Zero for the first(and maybe the last time). I would have liked to have seen what was behind all the doors in the hoods also. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
I thruly hope the ending of UruLive has not yet been writen.

But if they open up again, those of us that were on Uru Live right now... Would we be the first to get on to the new one, provided there is?

Ya, I sure hope that they consider reopening Live some day in the future, when technology catches up with their dreams. I definitely will be one of the first to wanting back in if they do.

It's not really depressing, Cicici - not unless you imagine, in years to come, going to that promontory and finding a little tarnished memorial plaque mounted on a seat, with a picture of a squirrel, and the legend "In memory of Thietris, who loved this spot."

No, it's not an ending but a beginning. Because, as we know, the ending has not yet been written.

You like poetry Thietris?

There is a poetry thread in the Myst Hangout site. Take a look.

OK, maybe I your right. I been a little shaken up since the announcement, but I think I have a somewhat clearer head now. But I still not sure I'm to keen on having to clean the mess. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif
Let me know were you jumped, or going to jump from so that I know were to look for you and to place the memorial plaque.
And may the end never be written us and for D'ni. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

That "memorial plaque" thing got me thinking. All our names should up there on display. What if there was a big stone tablet with the names of all the explorers "engraved" on it? It could be updated with each expansion pack and serve as a reminder that we are still a community of explorers. If some sort of KI messaging was possible, it could include our KI numbers too.

You folks are lucky. You have memories.

All I have is a profound sense of disappointment.

I agree with Zard0z.

This post was deleted because it contained no opinion or view on Uru, but was a personal and uncalled for observation toward community members.

These people will get bored with us soon, Paula. I just want to enjoy Uru and whatever it has to offer us in the future.
