Hi, as you all know, Lock On brings any system to its knees at high detail...
I've recorded all my clips using Fraps set to half-size at 25fps (game set to 1024x768). However, there are certain "heavy" occasions where the videos aren't exactly, well, as smooth as they should be...
I realise that even recording at 25fps, if there is a slowdown in the game, that will also be recorded.

Now, I have a big set of clips, some of which have this problem. Without having to record them again, is there any way or "trick" to allow me to remove or at least "filter out" this problem?
For example, is there a program I can use to may be speed up the clips on some sections which would make it look like there wasn't a problem? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Can you recommend any tools or procedures by which I can remove the problem?

Anyhow I'd like to know how to speed up a video from a frame to another frame (as I want to speed up the matrix-style shots over the rest of the clips). Can I use VirtualDub for this, or do I need another program?

Thanks a lot for your time...

-AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (2.08GHz, 333MHz FSB, 640KB Cache)
-Asus A7N8X (nVidia nForce II)

-ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128MB (ATI Catalyst 4.2)
-Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition (SP1)

you can speed up (or ramp) up footage in any video editing software. it usualyy does this by skipping every second frame (i.e. skipping frame 0,3,5,7 etc) and playing it back at normal speed.

i think you can do something in virtualdub concerning frame rates but im not sure as i dont use it

Well let me see, how do you guys do it?
I've noticed that the clips on your movies are perfectly smooth, regardless of situation...
I've tried recording a track in Lock On (rather than recording the clips directly from in-game) and then seeing if the actual track is smoother than what it was in-game. Though I've noticed it is a bit smoother, it's not perfectly smooth, so it still gets slightly blocky in some areas.

Any tips? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The popular way of getting round this issue is to slow time down in Lock On while recording, and then speed it up in the edit.

Straight off the top of me head, 'Alt+a' slows time down. 'Shift+a' reverts to normal speed. I think.

Hope this helps,

I use the AVI tool built into the game. It takes longer and you have to get used to it's idiosyncracies. Once you get used to them you can get any shot that you can get w/FRAPS. And since the game renders frame by frame you get no slowdown w/the final product.
