Yes, the Actual Idiocy (AI) of my computer-controlled teammates was a major impetus for me to play online only to find out that if you aren't in a clan using voice comms everyone either runs around accidentally TKing people because they are running so fast they shoot as soon as they round corners and see someone or they camp in a hiding space waiting for TANGOs to walk through their field of vision which is enhanced by sensors or they just rapid fire the GL on the OICW hoping to hit someone, but other than that it's a fun game... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I understand how ya feel. I might be taking some fire and i'm about to return fire and one of my men would walk right in the line of fire when i take a shot. They have to nerve to say i'm shooting at friendly. Another thing. I've been taking fire before and i had tunney decides he wants to walk closer so he can get shot in the a$$. Why walk closer if i'm not moving.

I love it when you're holding for a grenade toss, only to have the dumb dumb walk in front of you, the grenade hits his hollow melon and you have to beat feet to not become dog food. Although, they do get their punishment by dying.
I just wish you could command each team member individually. That's the only advantage to using two, one man teams (on xbox).

If there is 1 thing I hate about GR, it's that /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif .

I was trying to get through a doorway one time and they wouldn't get out of the way so I just shot them myself and was able to finish sooner.

Today i was playing the mission in Cuba where you have to protect the voting place,and rescue the civilians.Well i kill the jerk gaurding the civilian and the civilian go's upstairs and starts running inplace in a corner!! (duhhh??)

Yeah, I was trying to get a sniper shot off into a house and the support machine gunner kept getting in the way. I got ticked, so I ran the machine gunner into the house just so he could be the hero and he got shot up (poor sap). So I went back to the sniper and did just fine. I fugured the support gunner deserved his chance at glory since he wanted to get in the snipers way so often.

Another reason not to use Support (right snipe21? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ). After snipe21 suggested that Support is worthless I started paying more attention to their performance and realized that they are pretty worthless. The guns are horribly inaccurate and most MP servers frown on them anyway - I think it causes lag...

Yep bucko support is useless unless placed in the right hands with someone that knows how to use it like ---->ME<---- /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Apart from lag any team member that uses support in a MP game is just a waste of a good soldier that could carry some real firepower and be of use.

I started a campaign on Elite, for IT. I set a waypoint, sent Bravo to take the plantation, then took Alpha to flank anyone in the buildings. As I put a far off Cuban in my sights, fired a shot, I noticed that the Cuban had the same name as one of my squad members.
The "x" Objective Failed prompt came up b/c I killed one of my own guys. Although he was not anywhere in front of me, he was close enough to my weapon that it killed him. What the H is that all about?

Yeah, they aren't much worth, but you see, I managed to figure out why!

It suddenly dawned on me one day when I looked over at Munz, lying there with his MG3. He'd forgotten to deploy the bipods and his left hand was not on the buttstock like it's supposed to, but rather under the barrel housing. He could at least have put his elbow on the ground, but no! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

I believe it would be a good idea to haul the whole support group down to the range, bring out the ammo boxes and give them some proper instruction. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Perhaps they could then start making themselves usefull and earning their combat pay, instead of trying to be heroes, clearing buildings and getting killed in the process /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Support can be pretty useful in some areas. Say, taking out the 5+ enemies guarding the top of the stairs at the Control Tower in Arctic Sun. A SAW greets them nicely, shall we say.

In the DOCKS, the tanks are on a huge concrete platform. I took my squad up there to take out the enemy, and once that was accomplished, I took off down the ramp to mop up. All of a sudden, "YOU'VE GOT WOUNDED HERE!" What the!?! I drop, obviously missing some enemy. Then again, ANOTHER WOUNDED TEAM MEMBER! HOLY COW! I'm scanning like crazy! OHMAGODWHEREARETHEY?!? I find no one around. I stand up. ANYONE OUT THERE? SHOOT ME! No luck. So I go up on the concrete platform to look around, and then I walk off the edge of the platform, BAM, I'm injured. So my team simply walked off the edge of the platform instead of following me down the ramp. I went off a couple more times and KILLED MYSELF!

Funny you should mention that. I did the same thing, But as far as I know there and one other mission I know of is the only place you can walk off something. Usually you cant walk off a clift but you sure can those docks.

In the swamps, I had Ramirez and another rifleman sneaking up to the house with silenced weapons, very staelthily approaching the door. I had another squad further back, watching the same doorway. Just when I get up to the house, the support guy in the squad watching the door lets rip, and theres the THUMP THUMP THUMP of lead hitting the wood walls all around me as the rifleman gets nailed by friendly fire, and just as I'm hitting the 7 button I get nailed too! THEN then enemy pops out of the doorway and launched a grenade that takes out the support team!

That was only one of two times I got killed by AI freindly fire.

When I finally decided to play the GR campaign on elite for fun, I was on the m01 caves mission, and I had to take out tent camp troops. I had a nice squad and I had an M4 guy, an M16 guy, and a sniper on the job of the tents. I took my sniper and got him just outside the camp with a vantage point over all of them so he could open fire when i went from 'recon' to 'suppress'. AFter I had him in the perfect position, I took my M4 guy and had the M16 followin me. As I moved into a position oppisite the sniper on the other side of the camp, I made sure that my ROE was on 'recon'. It was. As I move in I hear *swish* *swish* Looking at my AI controlled M16 guy, he had taken out his silenced M9 and was taking pot shots at the guys in the camp. Appearently, 'recon' does not apply to silenced weapons. As he hit one of their guys, they opend fire on me with their AK47's and one even threw a hand grenade at me. I TK'd the M16 guy to make him stfu, it got me sniper killed and my M4 guy gimped...and I hadn't saved it so I had to restart the mission. Figures ... OH GEE I GUESS ILL WARN THESE ARMED REBELS OF THE AMBUSH IM SETTING JUST TO MAKE MY PARTNER MAD ENUF TO KILL ME AND GET THE SNIPER KILLED TOO.

I think that is the last time i provide my squaddies with sidearms, THE M9 IS A PRIVELGE NOT A RIGHT. Im taking that privelege away...

I've noticed that when strafing to the left or right, my squad members have a bad tendency to walk in front of my weapon, usually when I'm about to pull the trigger. It seems a little worse on GRIT.
A buddy of mine had the same thing happen to him, when we were playing MP. He kept wounding his squad members b/c they would walk in front of him. He got so ticked off he gave them each a skull shot. It was pretty funny and quite effective.

Single man missions are the way to go, in my book.
Sure it might take a little longer, but who cares. That's the fun.
If I do take more then one man, it's usually a single soldier, on Bravo squad. That way, I can get him far away from me so he's not getting a close up view of my muzzle flash.

Xbox, but I have yet to get online and play. The only mulitplay I've done is direct link with another XBox.

We can't get broadband here yet.

Not to help you spend money, but you can get the Gold Edition for about $30 and most servers won't boot dial-uppers. Plus, you get cool mods... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I tried out GR on an AlienWare PC at Best Buy and the graphics were awful. Must be that GR is a relatively old game, since Raven Shield on the same machine looked great.

Hmmm. Someone may come along to verify this, but I read in other threads that the GR PC graphics are far superior to the console graphics. Maybe they had the GR graphics settings in the lowest 'mode'...

Yeah thats really annoying you set up your team to cover your rear next thing you know the dumb sons of b*****s are DEAD!! What the smeg is going on? they just let the enemy walk right up to them and pop a cap or two in there thick heads!! are they asleep? blind or what? Then you get the dummies you left in the prone position in good cover deciding to kneel in the middle of a fire fight and catch a face full of lead and end up dead !!!! I thought these guys were the best of the best of the best? then again it is based on the US military, if it was the SAS they would do it right first time!!!!!!!!!!

If the SAS and the rest of the British army had been allowed to do as they wished the IRA would have been long long gone. I think your comment is rather silly as the northern island issue is very complex. The British army was sent there to try and keep the peace despite many soliders being murdered they did a very good job considering there hands were tide by the politicians. As elite forces go the SAS is known to be the best and you don,t read in the papers where british troops have killed there own, do we?
The first gulf war..... more british casuaties by American friendly fire than by hostile fire........leave it there

You're right the US forces only go into simple situations. I'm so silly sometimes...

By what measure? When you chose your conflicts you can control your success rate. We have a lawyer in the US named Gerry Spence who has never lost a case, but that doesn't mean he's the best - he only chooses cases he knows he won't lose.

I read your posting with interest Burko and i have emailed the moderator as i think your comments were out of line, i,am sure we could have a long chat about the subject and i could put you straight regarding the IRA.
Perhaps i was a little harsh with my first posting but you more than made up for it in your replies, veiled threats and the suggestion that UK forces only pick fights they can win? hmmmmmm well i don,t mind if you reply, but please get your facts right regarding HM Forces
Having said that i quite enjoy playing GR and have all the add on games, but its nothing like real combat even in elite mode

True enough. I remember my first MP game. I thought we were going to use some sort of combo of the command interface and the voice chat to actually have a plan of attack. As it turned out the people on the server played just a bit too much Halo to make the jump to GRIT.

If anyone wants to show me what a good MP game is like look me up on Live. My tag is the same as my screen name here.

I was told not to "clan up" immediately, but to just play around and have fun. To me playing a squad-based game in such a chaotic manner was not fun to me so I clanned up as soon as I found one I liked.

"Live"? I'm assuming that's XBox Live, right? I think they have clans - Claudeboy88 seems to belong to a clan and he'll be along soon enough to verify. I don't know about the XBox version, but I can assure that they have clans in the PC version and most use a communications program - Teamspeak being very common. When you play with a clan, use the SuperGrids mod, and use a comms program it is much more structured...

try going to Teamcompete.com...they are a ladder site with teams and forums..thats where the "consolers" go to create clans and such...good luck...
