I have spoken to a few guys who have played the most up to date pre-beta test (no the cracked one) and they have said it is only barely playable on a 9700Pro. Now these are quite reputable sources, which means that Mamais must have been quite ahead of himself when he assured us that the game would "run well on a Ti 4400."

For thos of you who are still tuning in to this lingo it means that unless you have a Radeon 9800Pro or a Geforce FX 5900, you might want to start taking us much overtime as possible between now and when FC is released. For those of you who are still at school (and that appears to be the majority) it may be an idea to get a job instead of wasting so much of your holiday time on these forums. Get a job= Get $$= Get a better Video Card. Your gonna need it!

They still have much time to optomize it. I'm taking you with a grain of salt, because I don't trust you. I'd rather wait for something official. Like a polished demo. I made it into the beta, but that's exactly what it is, a beta. Hopefully we get rid of most of the bugs and help with the optomization.

It probaly barely ran because they had the setting cranked to the max =P

...errr, why so little trust? Why would I lie about something like that? You got into the beta but it doesnt sound like you have played it yet. When you do, let us know. Alot of ppl don't have the highest end cards. I must say that I was skepticle when they said it would be ok on a Ti 4400. I mean, a largely non- linear game with those kind of outdoor environments will naturally drain the highest recources. Its just a fact. Such non-linearity of which Crytek is bosting will most certainly chew up the data trasfer in any 32 bit system.

well its about time eery 1 upgraded their system...

the future is highly detailed games... and more than likely pay to play with over 8000 players per server around the world online...

horrible facts, but its true.

Can I just point out these facts;

That is most likley with ALL SETTINGS UP FULL!

Which then is bound to be the case, and bound to be true.

Thirdly, it would run on a Ti 4400, but OBVIOUSLY with detail levels lower, draw distance reduced and 16bit textures.

i'm upgrading my system pretty soon:

OLD:

P3 733mhz
392mb PC133 RAM
Gforce4 MX440

TO BE COMPUTER:

Athlon 64 3200+
Gigabyte K8VNXP
512 Corsair CL2 DDR
Radeon 9600 XT

--------------------------

You guys think this would be adequate?
Like to play on top settings, since the athlons a 64-bit.
If not, what kind of settings would you think it would handle? Low, mediocre, average, above?

I'm inclined to take sides with TFR here. Crytek promised vast landscapes with a lessened drain on reasources. From what i've read about it, i'd say it's totally feasable. An alpha build probably wont have that code polished so it's hard to say how reliable that angle is. Not to mention that running on a ti 4400 and having a high frame rate with all the settings at max are two entirely seperate things. Anyway if you feel the need for max settings then you're going to need a high performance card anyway. All I can say is, we'll see.

gimmie beta...

I just can't wait till I play a game that makes me upgrade my computer again. I've had my Processor, Motherboard, Video card, and Ram for almost a year now (in febuary it will be a year).

AMD Athlon 2200+ (1.8GHz)
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
GeForce 4 Ti 4200
512MB of RAM (x 1)
7200RPM 120GB 8MB Cache Hard Drive (x 2)

I'm just waiting for a good game to come along to make me want to up grade

When the game comes out i'll make my own mind about performance.

Thank you.

To the person who posted this on the forums.

For one you say your friends got the pre-beta
For two how did they get it?
For three, if you tell the truth about them getting the pre beta, then its only a pre beta and has alot of bugs to fix, which is normal for a pre beta to run as slow as you said it did.
For Four if your lying you obviously dont like Far Cry or you just like lowering people expectations and hopes, Im not being a ****head here but nobody needed to hear that especially me with a GeForce 4 Mx440, AMD athlon 1.3Ghz, 384 Mhz of RAM.
I just hope your lying/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I am certainly not lying. It is no secret that quite a few PR gaming people have played the alpha version of the game. As a matter of fact the SP part of the game was quite playable at E3. There have been bugs to fix, but mostly MP and serverside related issues. Very few graphical issues (tweaks) are being made now. Its just a matter of ironing out some MP bugs.

Of course we all need to be patient and wait for the final release of the game before we speculate too much. However, I am just giving everyone a gentle reminder that you will not be able to enjoy this game on anything less than a 9700Pro.

If you still would like to wait to play the game before you decide, that is up to you...its your money. I just don't want to have to say "I told y'all so!" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Don't listen to this guy saying it won't run on anything lower than a 9700 Pro, thats just BS. Do you really think they would release a game that can only be played by 10% of gamers?

One thing that backs my point up very well is the fact that the Far Cry team did not have a system specs test or question asking you your specs to get into the beta...

I do think that the game will only run the fullest details on the likes of a 9800 Pro, but it will run lesser details on a much lower card. A 9600XT/Pro should be fine...

i would just like to say i have the same feelings as you "poo_poo_doll" i also have a Ti4400 and i am wondering as well, but i believe if i was able to play Delta force black hawk down with no troubles then Far Cry should work as well and i am beta tester for this game so i will let you know how it runs on my system obviously i will have to tinker with the settings( hopefully not too much) but i dont mind as long as the game play is good, im a happy gamer. :cool)
