Help! Demo unplayable on my 9800pro

Just got my brand spanking new graphics card today - a radeon 9800 pro 128mb. Problem is, I can't even play far cry. When I first ran it with everything on full there were some really weird graphical bugs like little blocks flashing all over the screen and now whenever I try and play with whatever settings my monitor just shuts off and I have to restart. I've tried old drivers without success and I don't think it's a hardware problem because I've tried other DX9 apps like deus ex 2 and 3dmark2003 and they work fine.

I was able to play the demo in the highest detail setting. I got to the indoor area where I suppose you need to plant a bomb and left, I couldn't get out side, graphics died!

Now I can't play the game at all, any setting what so ever. Either the monitor shuts off or ATI VPU Recover kicks in and saves me from a reboot. Nothing else is having issues with my system except this Far Cry Demo and it doesn't work at all now, uninstalling it.

P4 2.8 Ghz
Sapphire 9800 Pro 128mb
768 mb Ram PC2100

Nothing is overclocked and all system settings are as they were WHEN I was able to play this.

Was nice while it lasted.

I've got a Sapphire Pro 256 mb card & it works fine,the developers have said to use the 3.9 catalyst drivers to play.Try that.Im using 3.10 &everything seems to be ok.Touchwood.Have'nt got to the interior levels yet.

I also am using the 9800Pro with the current version of catalyst. I found that if my control panel settings for graphics were set to 'application preference', the demo froze everytime. When I changed those 3D settings to AA(X4), anisotropic(X8) the demo would play. Try not using application preference. I'm sure you can manually set them to whatever, I just use AA X4/Anisotropic X8. Hope this helps. BTW the water effects are awesome!

I installed the 3.9 drivers, then reinstalled the game and direct x9. It's running pretty well too around 30-40fps with everything on full and at 1280*1024.
