Well, for a long time , ever since i played my first mod for jedi knight, and started experimenting making them,
i've had this idea of(what i think) would be a pretty cool mod for a FPS like unreal. Now that there's a truly
capable game engine out in the Cryengine, it could finally be realized.I'm sure a lot of people will think this
sounds stupid, and wont work, but whatever. I'd like to hear people's opinions for the heck of it, and then i'll see
where it goes from there. And by the way, as most that read this might guess, i'm not a professional or anything.

Now, this mod would be heavily inspired by the heist scene from the film 'Heat'. Therefore, if it were to ever be made
would be named "Heist". Here goes.

the Swat team:the guys that go in and try to stop the robbers
Cops: the guys that try to keep the robbers from escaping
Bank robbers: self explanatory

team objectives:

robbers: secure all cash inside the bank, and escape in timed rounds (10 minutes)
Cops: divided into 2 halves, swat team and detectives, detectives may only provide cover for the SWAT team, and
pursue robbers that try to escape.

There are many ways to escape the heist. the Cry engine has excellent vehicle support-- it would be put to good
use here, including helicopters from rooftops (and the SWAT guys may have access to this stuff too)
I've got a lot more ideas than this, especially for maps and gameplay scenarios, so this is pretty much off the
top of my head.

Over the years ive come up with a ton of ideas i could put into something like this, so this is really just the basics
of it.

Thanks in advance.

I've been waiting for somebody to bring this up. I was on the HEAT mod team for SOF2. The mod died, but you can still view some of the levels I did for it on my site(in my profile). I would definetly like to get involved with this mod if it happens. I do level design, and modeling for a living, so send me a pm if you start this up.

Thanks for the input fellas. i'd really like to get this going somehow, but as of now I just havent got the resources to go it alone, like you could way back when.

PatrickBlank42: I'm going to come up with a more complete design document later this weekend, then i'll see where I go from there.

I really wanna see this get made somehow, if done right it could be truly awesome, and I've just got a lot of great ideas to put into this.

I think it would be too hard to try and do it in the cryteck engine. Too much stuff would have to be made (textures, models, etc...).

I think the best engine to try and do it in would be the Max Payne 2 engine.

1. It already has the buildings and guns you'll need.
2. It has cops and swat team models. Even some bank robber with mask models.
3. It has the vehicles already (half destroyed and tipped over ones too), cop cars and others, but you can't drive them. It's not that big of a deal because the only driving scene in that shootout was the black guy driving forward and getting shot.
4. The game already has squad based and cooperative squad based ai.
5. The game has a very very popular modding engine, apparently easy to use, very good graphics, good interface, advanced game engine, the most advanced and well balanced bullet time ever, rag doll physics, destructible environments, and just an awesome physics engine altogether.

If you don't already own Max Panye 2, as PC gamers you're missing out on an awesome single player game. I believe it's $40 or so U.S. retail for the PC.

The whole point of modding, is to make new textures, models, ect. Lol.
