Stuck with Saavedro on Narayan... Again... [Archive]

Hi again,

Well, I think this is the last time I get stuck in Exile. Looks close to the end.

I've unlocked both symbol pods on Narayan and Saavedro is waiting for me to switch the shield, which leads to failure (well, I think since Saav throws the book and I can't steel it from him).

There's no other apparatus to play with. What to do next ?

hope you did a save before saav threw the book.

Have you got a hint ? Well yes, I saved just before completing the 4-cirle pod (I read all posts relating on Narayan).

Uhmm, hints?

Remember Saavedro doesn't trust you further than he can spit. So what you do and the order in which you do it is imperative, if you dont want to end up with a headache or be sent on a guilt trip.

That's the whole idea of the various endings...what one little thing could you do differently that could lead to a change.

Keep in mind, Saav has been driven insane so he isn't very reliable. (Those headaches Jaunt mentioned and tossing the book). Keep going back to your save and think. You can or can't help him, but you must keep yourself safe.

Well,

I finally got through. After going all the through the game without help (except here, in Narayan), I could not expect to be forced to be so mean with the guy.

There should have been, along with all other ending possibilities, another successful ending where you could be "sorry" for what Saavedro had to go through all these 20 years because of Sirrus and Aquenar...

Anyway, Thanks to you all you helped. Is there or will there be a Myst IV ? Or is it that "Uru" game ?

You don't have to be mean to him. There is an ending where you get Releeshan back and get Saavedro back to his people.

I see you trapped Saav and got the book. Is there anyway you can "release" him without giving him the opportunity to give you a headache?

There are two acceptable endings. You hit the lesser one. There is still the better one, which is what compassion led me to the first time.

Saav has been driven insane with his desire to know about his family. But I didn't trust him by the time I reached Narayan. Think very hard and you will find the way for him to return to his family and still protect yourself and the linking book.

to get the book back go up the stairs and thur the power off he wil start saying No,No,No,No,No!!!!. go back dow the stairs and go to the vine looking gate. he will talk to yuou and give you the book. after that switch the shields and turn on the power.
