Strange Errors in the audio...

Hi.

Hope this ain't been asked before.

I have been playing splinter cell on a AthlonXP 1400 and a Geforce FX, sometimes when certain sound events happen, especially when shooting, the sounds goes very weird, it sounds like high volume interference and crackling coming through the speakers, it is many levels in volume above the rest of the game.
I have DX9 installed, and the latest patch.

The sound card is a soundblaster Live! with the standard WinXP drivers installed.

Does anyone have any idea why this happens?
If more information is required then I will be happy to provide it.

So did you get it fixed? Sound drivers by any chance?
