help instaling graphics card to compaq computer

i have a powercolor radeon 9600xt ultra and i want to install it to my COMPAQ PRESARIO S6300NX and i am haveing difficulties with it..the computer stays back when i install the card in....IF YOU HAVE A COMPAQ PRESARIO PLEASE GIVE ME THE STEPS YOU DID WHEN U INSTALLED A RADEON 9600xt...PLEASE GIVE ME THE STEPS...i may be missing something

Go into your bios by pressing delete multiple times during boot up and set your default display device to AGP instead of onboard.
