I can't host with the XP firewall turned on. If i turn it off I get annoying pop-up messages as the game is running. Anyone know how to set up XP's firewall to allow you to host without turning it off.

Well you will need to turn it off. In order to disable the pop-ups, which ironically enough come through a MS service, do this:

Start -> Run -> type in services.msc -> look for service named 'messenger' -> stop service -> in properties disable this service.

No this has nothing to do with MS Messenger.

Couldn't you just open the ports in the firewall?

Look at this link for ports.

http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ubisoft.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=tsxpBp5h&p_lva=&p_faqid=1017&p_created=1037732578&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTM0J nBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9MyZwX3Byb2R fbHZsMT04OCZwX3Byb2RfbHZsMj0yNTcmcF9jYXRfbHZsMT1_Y W55fiZwX3NvcnRfYnk9ZGZsdCZwX3BhZ2U9MQ**&p_li=

And I would strongly advice against disabling the firewall. Maybe get a better one than the built-in, look at www.sygate.com or www.zonelabs.com both have a free version available.

In these firewalls when an application ask for Internet rights, you just click yes to allow it at this open all the ports the applications need to open, in the built in you need to set the permissons for the ports etc. You can select to allow the game to always have acces to the internet and other to never have acces so you don't have to click yes or no on frequently used applications.
