when i type the serers ip, it says unknown.. how do i fix this?

To NiCkShOt,

The server maybe off line or the server in question has not filled out the information so it is public. I take it you have entered the IP address and added it to your list and it is blank?

This browser is much better then UBI game service. Once you have it installed and are familiar with how it works, you should be able to find a game 24/7.

What GR discs to you have? GR, Desert Siege, Island Thunder?
What version are you running? 1.002, 1.3 or 1.4?

If you are unfamiliar with GR multiplayer, you must have the same version(1.002, 1.3 or 1.4) as the server to join. You also have to have the same mods activated as the server. Most have the retail expansions Desert Siege and Island Thunder(listed as mp1 and mp2) activated, but they may have other fan made mods activated also. Such as HX5 or DAGRM 4.9.

If you need patches to update your version to 1.4 (most servers run this latest version) get them here:

If you have not patched your version at all, you will need both the 1.3 and 1.4 patches.

ok, the GR i bought was gold edition, all 3 in one, but i still need the mods island thunder and desert seige, i got everything to work but i still need thoughs things...

The Gold edition box set you have got comes with GR on the first CD and Desert Siege/Island Thunder on the second CD. As Wom has pointed out DS/IT are expansion packs to the original Ghost Recon game which are not stand alone meaning you must have GR installed for them to work as they do not carry the full files and folders that GR does.

Both expansion packs are know as MP1 (Desert Siege) and MP2 (Island Thunder) and your required to be patched to v1.4 to game online. Mods is a shortened word for modification and these come in the form of maps,skins,weapons,and missions. Mods are made by the very talented GR gamers and make then available to the like of you and me to enjoy.

For instance if was was to download HX5 (Mod that contains new maps,weapons,missions etc) and have installed and activated for online gaming and you do not have it, then joining my room will be impossible until you DL the mod and install yourself.

Right now the most common mods you will come across are DA 4.9 (Missions,weapons,new maps etc) HX5 (Missions,weapons,new maps etc) and a mod called Major Player which has a number of different team games for online.
