The mission pack has a new direction. Insstead of makin asassination missions and challenging stuff Im gonna make mission that we can have a laugh about. Im not really into makin stuff that is gonna p*ss ppl off if they cant beat it. So im gonna make somethin where we can show off the characters and use them in the single player mode. That's the main thing for me on this mod (the new characters of the folks on the forum I mean). Dont worry Im sure you all will enjoy it :-).

P.S. can you use the weapons/objects that the enemies are carrying as objects that you can pick up for an oblective for example?

You can't use the weapons or whatever that the enemies are carrying. There are some ways to get around the problem in the scripting for the mission, depending on what you want to do. You can have responses that change the kits that actors are carrying, make them invisible or invincible, replenish their ammunition etc.

So, although you can't explicitly do it, you may be able to sneak your way into doing it through a back door. What did you have in mind?

I was gonna take the beer can from the enemy beer+ak47 for the objective. The mission was that someone has stolen our beer and it is your job to get it back.

Objective 1: Locate lunchboxes
Objective 2: Regain control over beercans
Objective 3: Go to extractionzone

Objective X: Control yourself and leave the beercans closed

The US plan gets my vote on that one!! Far better suggestion than that Dutch idea... We want a special objective that's actually achievable! Paul, what the *(^%^^ were you thinking?? LEAVE THE BEER ALONE??? NNNOOOOOOOOO.... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

We'd fail that objective every single time! Or I would anyway. Unless it was nasty beer. Dutch lager, for example. (Joking! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif )

How about we create a vehicle, like a truck, with a big logo on the side, and that could be the beer delivery van that we have to secure. I vote for a Foster's logo. Or maybe Grolsch (just to make up for the Dutch lager joke!) I guess, being American, you'd prefer Miller or Bud or something? How about Corona? Mexican, I know, but very nice...

As for the tangos drinking our beer, we could just waste them for it, without having to pick the beer up again...?

What, for the beers you mean? Yeah, I hadn't thought of that... We'll just have to make our own up: Forster's, or Golsch, or Bodweiser! Or not. It was one of my crazy ideas anyway! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Although I live in England at the moment, I'm not actually English. So I'm not "from" anywhere in England! I'm Scottish. I was born in Falkirk, not far from Edinburgh. I now live in Hertfordshire, if you know where that is. About 40 miles (that's around 65km to you!) north of London.

I never call anywhere home - I never stay there long enough! Lived in just west of Edinburgh for a year or so when I was first born, then moved to Wales, not far from Cardiff. Stayed there three years or so, then went to Germany. Lived there, at two different places near the Ruhr, not far from the Netherlands border and Roermond, for another five years. Then went back to Scotland, this time north of Edinburgh, near Dundee and went to school in St Andrews. That was for about three years, before we went back to Germany again, this time further north, not a million miles away from Hannover. Stayed there 18 months or so, and then had another 18 months further south, right on the Dutch border again - plenty of shopping in Nijmegen, visits to Arnhem etc. Then came back to Wales, not far from Cardiff again and finished school there and then did my A-Level exams. Stayed there... four years, perhaps. Then went to university in England - my first time living in England, that was. Spent four years there, just outside Leicester and Nottingham. Then came down here to Hertfordshire when I graduated and started working at this engineering company.

So nowhere is "home", if you see what I mean! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

My Dad is in the air force, so we got sent all over the place all the time when I was young - hence the trips to Germany. If you ignore the times we've moved because of the air force, I've moved to Loughborough after finishing school to go to university, and then down here when I graduated coz this is where my job is.

Don't know. It all depends where my wanderings (and employment!) take me. You get used to moving around, so I'm really not all that bothered if I have to move again.

I might be getting some time abroad anyway. We have a project coming up in Singapore, and another one in Virginia in the US. Both of the plants are different kinds of plants to the ones we usually do, so there aren't many people here to do the project management that know about the new technology. But I'm one of the three, and there's two projects to do, so I may well get one. Nice huh? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

ok lets talk about this truck, don't have 3 d studio max so maybe someone else might need to do it if they r willing. But it is a good idea a duff bear truck and the ghosts must get in and ride it to the extraction point.

You can't drive vehicles in GR. You'd have to save that idea for Flashpoint or something similar. What you could do is have some reinforcements turn up to drive the truck... Get them to enter the vehicle as the driver and then have the vehicle follow a path (in a plan, I mean) to the exraction zone... That would work. Unlike my mission /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Very, very annoyed it crashes... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I think I'd prefer to do... I'm not sure actually. Singapore would certainly be different, but the flight to get there? Bit of a killer! I'd still be based in the UK, just having to travel over there as required. For a holiday, I'd probably go for Singapore - I've been to the States before and fancy a change. Always the South though: Texas (twice) and Florida (once, on my way to the Bahamas). I think I'd probably rather work in Virginia though.

Anyway, I wouldn't be disappointed with either of them! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The unknown as in not knowing where the baddies are...I've finished the original maps and would like to try some ideas. I played with the idea a while ago, but maybe gave up too soon when it started to get tough and crashes start occuring every time.

Now I want to start fresh...maybe combine it with some 3ds stuff...

Uh... Don't want to state the obvious, but if you write the mission, you'll know exactly where the baddies are! lol

That's the problem with creating your own - you can have exactly what you want, and make it great fun, but you'll always know where they are and what they're doing. Unless you make a mission and then don't touch it for months, so you forget where everyone is!

It's still good though - I really enjoy playing my own missions - maybe I'm just arrogant! But the missions are set up exactly as I like them, so I find them very entertaining...

XyZspineZyX

Not for my own fun ofcourse...DUH!

For others....like you do for your brother...

My girlfriends nephew is enthousiastic about it too now, as he bought a PC and I showed him IGOR and 3dsmax.

Maybe he will become more enthousaistic. That would multiply the number of missions we can make for others/eachother.

Certainly would.

You could have the infantry arrive on a truck as well if you wanted, and then have them dismount as part of their plan, and then drive off in the other truck. If you had two teams of infantry in a truck to start with, the truck drives up to the beer delivery truck, stops, and the men get out. They then move to the beer truck. One team enters the beer truck and drives it away, the other returns to their own truck and leaves in that... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

quote:
You can't drive vehicles in GR

You 'can' if you set AI off for playerplatoon, and then make a plan for them to enter and a plan to move.

Once at destination, exit and AI on.

It's like a cinematic.

There are lot's of mods with missions that do this for helicopters, so you can shoot from it.

Goto GR.net for a mission that claims you can drive in MP too !

I knew you could do a cinematic like that - just about every IT mission starts that way - but I didn't know you could still shoot from the vehicle as well... Surely you're not really driving it though, are you? You're just following a pre-arranged path, with no control over changing it (eg if you see enemies)?

XyZspineZyX
08-22-2003, 05:27 PM
I made a test-mission on Wilderness, with a team and a BH, starup plan: team in BH, BH leaves straight path across map.

Didn't use TeamAIOff, so the soldier who was me, didn't join the others who went in BH.

When I switched to other team-member (in BH) I sat in BH high above map shooting down. Couldn't change kit, or stance.

If you turn off AI then plan to enter BH, then AIOn, I think all 3 go in.

BH can carry 6 (I think), so you could place 2 teams of 3, or 1 enemy-team of 6.

Check out deadpreacher's mod he knows alot about it.
