First got the unofficial demo about a week ago, not working.
But here is the true demo and guess what it does not work.
I have read some suggestions on this forum, but never had a problem with a demo or game before, no succes.
Will there be another true updated demo soon that does work truly correct?
So I can decide to buy this game or not.

Whatever.

at first this demo didn't work at all on my system

i had to try many things like disabling agp read/write then enabling it again, disabling mipmapping etc..

have you tried to tweak some tunings in your graphic card control panel?

check if anti-aliasing or anisotropic filter is disabled (if not, then disable it)

also check if your drivers are up-to-date

i was really frustrated for an hour because it didn't run but when i finally got it working and.. djeez! this demo is much much better than the other one!

you really have a glimpse of the atmosphere of the game, controls are fare better (well .. just a control tweak http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

and so far, it's much longer than the previous release

keep trying as it is really worth the frustration http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Can you be more specific on where the demo cuts out or how far you do get?

Current video drivers (which you can get from your video chip company, like Nvidia or ATI) and DirectX 9.0b (which you can get from microsoft.com/directX) are required in order to play.

Windows XP
Athlon XP 1600
512 MB DDRAM
Creative 64MB gforce 2 titanium
Latest drivers and direct x version

When I start game i get message that drivers for graphic card are not up to date and then get message on screen that asks if I want to continue anyway.
I click OK then but nothing happens then.
I know the drivers are up to date, also did try to disable or enable some features in gforce menu but know matter what i try it does not work.
Dont know what to do else, but thank you for reply.

Whatever.

I played the first demo with no problems at all, at 1280x1024. That was with catalyst 3.7 drivers, then I upgraded to 3.8 and it doesn't work. I installed the new official demo and it won't work either (cat 3.8 still installed). First I tried to play at 1280x1024 but when I click play it crashes the the desktop and says "not enough video memory". Which shouldn't be right since I have a radeon 9700 pro and should have more than enough video memory to run this game. So I turned it down to 1024x768, click play and I get varied results at this point, sometimes I can see a guy talking, for about 5 seconds then it freezes, other times its freezes as soon as the guy comes on screen, and other times my monitor loses a video signal. Almost all of these require a reboot to get out of it. I've adjusted almost every setting I can think of( Anti-Aliasing, Anisotropic filtering, resolution, etc) all with similiar results. Any suggestions? I would really like to try this game out.

Specs:

Windows XP Pro SP1
DirectX 9.0b
P4 2.53ghz
All In Wonder 9700 Pro
512mb PC2700
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

It appears they've added an insult to their self-injuries.

It does the same thing as before with the unofficial demo, which is to click-change the resolution, show me a black screen for a moment, and click-change the resolution back to my desktop setting, leaving me NO knowlegde that the program even RAN in the first place.

Weird. I've also a Radeon 9700Pro with Cat. 3.8 and DX9b installed, and it works great for me! Make sure AA is disabled (due to performance issues).
BTW, really great game!!!

I give up on this demo.
No matter what i try it does not work.
I have no problems with other demos or games, so I do not want to spend any more time on this game.
Mabey there will be an updated demo soon, because there are more people with problems.
I hope they will make a new demo, because this looked like a fun game.

Whatever.

Well, I'm at a loss then, we have similiar systems, so in theory I should be able to run the game also. I'm not having problems with any other DX9 games or anything so I'm not real sure what the issue is. I am definitely dissapointed because I was really looking forward to this game and this makes me skeptical about buying it, I don't want to pay money for a game that won't work on my computer :/ .

Also here the same problem as with the early demo release. Starting the game by launching "SettingsApplication.exe" only shows a black screen for about 2 seconds and then it just flips back to my desktop. Even by changing some settings, or using the default settings the game still does nothing. (The same for just double-clicking the BGE.exe file...)

I have uninstalled the early demo, rebooted and installed the new one, so that can't be it.

Got all the latest drivers installed (DX 9.0b ; 45.23 Nvidia drivers)

My system info :
.AMD Ahtlon 1.3 ghz
.TI4200 128mb
.512 mb sdRAM
.Soundblaster live
.OS : Windows 2003 Server web-edition
(I've also tried to turn the compatibility on bge.exe on windows XP/win2K, but none of those helped :/)

I hope you find information is usefull ...

maybe you can try to disable the new vpu recover function? it seems to be a nice tool but i couldn't get the demo to run normally until i disabled it (i had screen corruption, dialog boxes that made the game going background, unable to switch back to it etc..)
