http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif I can't figure out how to jump to the ledge by the "puffers" to get that page. Need a clue. Also, at this point I don't understand the tie in of these two ages. They seem so different yet are tied together instead of bein seperate ages. Is there an explanation later on or have I missed something---again?

it's hard to give a clue to this because it just depends on your character handling skills...try that rock in the midst of the puffers....
From what I gathered from the Shomat story..both ages were 2 of the many garden ages for Shomat.

Both of these ages are 'rest' ages. 'Eder' is the D'ni word for rest. I'm not sure that these ages were both Shomat's but they are both garden ages. That's about the closest I can find to any real connection between the two.

Walk a bit up that little rock right next to the ledge. As you start to slip off it, jump and you should end up on top of it (perhaps not on the first attempt, but...). Then you can jump to the ledge.
Kemo and Gira are connected in the sense that together they have a total of 7 journey cloths. And (minor spoiler) you need something from one to solve a puzzle in the other.

They're Shomat's...Why else would Cyan stick the journal there?

What kind of "rest" are you supposed to be able to get in Eder Gira???
Unless all that heat and steam somehow provides warmth for the plants on Eder Kemo, or something...or makes the weather (periodic storms).

Maybe not rest per se, but relaxation. Eder Kimo is pretty enough, but for real relaxation, I would like Eder Gira. Standing under the waterfall, swimming, lots of steam and sun. It reminds me of a health club where I once worked, Sauna, Steam room and pool all within easy reach. Just add some barbells and I'm all set.
"He made me choose."
"And you chose me?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because he was wrong to make me choose."

G8crasher:You're right, they're PROBABLY Shomat's, but there's nothing specific (that I know of at least) to say that they DEFINITELY are, so I won't say it either. I mean, Cyan might have just put that book there to give you some history on garden ages in general, but again, you're probably right.

I could see why you'd think Eder Kemo was Shomat's, but if that guy was so big on "make it more beautiful!!! NOW!!!!", I'm not getting how Eder Gira would be his (not withstanding JdeMorgan's endorsement of its beauty http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ).
I just don't think it was Shomat's kinda Age. I originally thought that Eder Gira was Yeesha's Age, given that she was so attuned with the desert, and having another Age cooperatively linked with it did not really change my mind.
All the other Ages we've seen, written by anyone from Atrus to Gehn to the unknowns who wrote Gahreesen, Kadish and Teledahn had a use, and were self-contained to support whatever function they had (grow mushrooms, guard my treasure, spawn more worshippers and keep them in line, a place to live, a place to teach, etc).
There is no reason to make Eder Kemo and Eder Gira cooperative if they're pre-existing Garden Ages. If you want a steam, go to one, if you want to smell the puffer plant pollen http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif and watch the fireflies, then go to the other.
But cooperation just screams "Yeesha" to me-- especially if you did the Ages in the InfoBook order, and had just been to Kadish (which was so not about cooperation).
I think she maybe wrote a Garden Age very similar to one of Shomat's so that the Book of Shomat would make sense there (as a side benefit).

I thought the same thing, but it has been pointed out to me that we come in on the backside, the "power plant" region -- it is lovely on the other side of that wall.
As for Eder Kemo, it looks very gardenish, but I can't see impatient, greedy Shomat putting up with the frequency of thunderstorms. Okay, maybe he doesn't have anything about bugs so he didn't get rid of the Creepy Kemo Cliff Bugs, but I can just see him now: "I only want it to rain when I'm not there. Write it that way now!! Or I'll have a temper tantrum! Waaaaaaah!"
Are we there yet?

Here's my problem getting to that page: I can get on the rock with no problem, but I can't jump to the ledge from there. What am I doing wrong?

Until you are in Uru Live you really don't know which age is which. Eder Kemo or Eder Gira. Doesn't matter, though, in solving the puzzles.
These sister ages are sort of complete opposites. One age has a lot of rain and the other is very dry and hot. Each are beautiful and mysterious as well. For instance that curious rotating stone in the garden age is a real myst-ery. Check it out while raining. There is a blue eerie glow that illuminates it. It is the only place in the garden with blue lighting. Very strange.
As for your jumping problem, once you manage to get up on that rock, switch to 3rd person to position yourself for a running jump to the ledge where the Relto page is. I had to continually switch back and forth. Even then it took me many tries to reach it and get the page.

Thanks, I finally got the page. I was trying do it all at a running jump.
Thanks for the tip about the rotating stone as well. I will take a closer look at that (and we thought the rain was just for looks http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ).
