question about mics

I need to know what a good mic is for the PC, mics seem to be the thing to have and i dont have one. Also, how do they work? are they usb or do you plug them into your sound card?

Get a headset, not a mic. A headset is a combo mic (on a flexible boom that wraps around your face) and earphones like you'd plug into a boom box. Plantronics is very good. I believe USB (which is much more expensive) does not work with PT as these headsets do not go through your sound card.

it doesn't matter what brand, or if its a mic or a headset.

As long as you have a mic, u will be able to use it for SC : PT.

It was already said that USB mics WILL work. It was said that the game was designed to work with USB mics/headsets for PC.

Both a USB and regular jack (straight to soundcard) will work for SC : PT on PC.

just that about 75% (of what I've played with) dosen't have mics, and when they do they have the mic up their nose so you hear them breathe or they can't speak english (******ed) or other stuff.

Has anyone else had the problem of not hearing your teammate but he can hear you or vice versa? This happens alot with me and my friends, PC version.

tell him to go into options, then sound/audio or whatever its called in game, and turn the mic volume up there to 20, alternatively u can go into a .ini file (i forgot which one), and change the value of the mic output volume (or somethin or other ull kno it wen u see it :P) to somethin like 40, if of course 20 isnt high enough (for me it aint http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)

The main problem i have with people with mics is that they just sound crappy, choppy, or fuzzy.

I've played plenty of games with other people with mics, and it usually sounds pretty good. Pretty much everybody speaks English if you go to the US server... Oh, and I have a microphone that I found behind my computer the other day, and it works fine. I don't know how many years old it is.

headset is the way to go......they are cheaper too.u can find a good one for like 10-20$ at best buy or comp. usa. (i like comp usa better)

That said - I like the Plantronics models also. I've used both the 70 and 90 models and both you can get for around $30-35 US at just about any comp store. I also would recommend the headset as well - you don't give as much feedback and the mute button is usually easier to reach...just my 2 cent
