I have GR and installed the DS expansion pack. After playing all 15 GR missions and 8 DS missions, I noticed the selection 'firefight' and 'recon'. I click firefight , then seea number of other games appear after no.8, but when I click star, it just returns/crashes to the desktop. Is this a software/hardware problem, or am I just being an idiot, and do I have to play some other thing to get to play DS firefights?
I have played all my 15 +8 missions under recruit. Would that make a diff to anything?
thanks,
Andrew

To Andrew,
Your saying that you have played all 15 GR missions in the campaign mode and all 8 DS missions in campaign mode. Doing that will unlock all missions in Quick mission mode. Here you can select firefight/recon and use the multiplayer maps which are below.
Multiplayer Maps GR DS IT
GR
MP01 RIVER
MP02 NIGHT BATTLE
MP03 TRAIN WRECK
MP04 VALLEY
MP05 DOCKS
MPO6 CASTLE
TRAINING
DS
DP01 STRONGHOLD
DP02 FARMDAY
DP03 CREEKBED
DP04 WILDERNESS
DP05 RAVINE
If your crashing then there might be a corrupt file but follow the below SAVE GAMES and then follow the uninstall and reinstall. Make sure you follow the Save games to the letter.
Save GR Games
start/all programs/ accessories/window explorer/c:drive/programes file/red storm entertainment/ghost recon
1- Save folder inside data is used for saving your
keys for the game that you have set up.
2- Go into your mods folder, and take out the save
folder from MP1, MP2, and Origmiss.
3- Once you reinstall, just put these back in their
respective folders(overwriting the new ones) and
you'll be set.
Also copy all the files with the .xml extension and the missionstats.htm on the ghost recon folder.
If after restoring the saved folders/files, ghost recon don't work as expected (this can happen if you change the hardware after the backup), delete the options.xml in the ghost recon folder. Then start the game, go to the options and re-configure as needed
GR Uninstall
First of go to your add/remove program and uninstall GR/UBI and then follow below and delete the GR/UBI folders
1-start/all programs/accessories/windows explorer/my computer/local disk(c)/program files/red storm entertainment
2-start/all programs/accessories/windows explorer/my computer/local disk(c)/program files/UBI.com
To start from scratch uninstall all of GR and UBI and at your own risk do this but first back it up.
(1) start/run and type this: regedit and press ok
Up the top click file/export and on the pop up window down the bottom where it says (save as type) click the drop down arrow and click on ALL FILES. Then select your location and save.
repeat step (1)
1- hkey_current_user/software look for any red storm entertainment folders and delete along with any UBI soft folders
now do this:
2- hkey_local_machine/software look for red storm entertainment folders and delete along with any UBI soft and UBI soft entertainment folders and delete
now do this:
3- hkey_LocalMachine/ software/ Microsoft/ windows/ current version/ uninstall directory there should be a folder here named "{D89EF3B3-6F17-4665-B7A9-A4235A6DC787}" with some Ghost Recon info in it so delete only the ghost recon related info.

Snipe21,
thanks for the comprehensive reply and instructions. Before I do all that, I've realised that I can play the GR quick missions but not the DS ones . Is it possible that I need to play the quick missions in GR before the DS ones work?
I've printed out your reply and kept it for when I have the time to do it. Right now I'm thinking of buying the IT and playing that first.
Many thanks
Andrew

To Andrew,
You can play them in any order you like as it doesn't matter.
Have you got DS active in the mods? Start the game and click the options tab on the first splash screen followed by the mods tab. You will see DS in the left window and click it to high light DS and click the activate button and it will appear in the right window under active mods.
EDIT: You must also complete DS in the campaign mode to unlock the missions and maps for quick missions.
No do the below to make sure you have done it right.
New Campaign
To start a new campaign, click on the New Campaign button. This takes you to the New Campaign Screen.
At the upper left, you will see a text box. Type in the name of your new campaign here. It's a good idea to make it distinctive, to avoid any later confusion between saved campaigns.
Below the text box are your difficulty ratings: Recruit, Veteran, and Elite. Select one of these to set the difficulty for your campaign. Recruit offers unlimited ammunition for some weapons, as well as less skilled opponents. Veteran is standard game play, and Elite sets you up to face extremely skilled, lethal hostiles. Note that you cannot change difficulty levels within a campaign. If you begin a campaign at Recruit, you will have to start a new one if you decide that you're ready to tackle Veteran missions.
At the bottom left of the screen is a button labelled Cancel. This deletes your choices and takes you back to the previous (Campaign) screen.
At the lower right is a button marked Start. Clicking on this begins your campaign.
Deleting a Campaign
To delete a campaign, select it by clicking on it with your mouse, then click the Delete Campaign button. A dialog box asking if you wish to continue will appear. If you decide that you'd rather save the campaign after all, click No. If you do in fact want to delete the campaign, click on Yes. This will delete the campaign from your saved campaign list, and remove it from the list at the upper left of the screen. If you delete a campaign, any individual games you've saved as part of that campaign are deleted as well.
Resuming a Campaign
If you have saved campaigns, the Resume Campaign button will be available to select. (If not, it will be greyed out.) A list of your saved campaigns will appear in the box above the buttons. To resume one, select the campaign you'd like to play, then click on Resume Campaign. This will take you to the Campaign Mission Screen.
