The Splinter Cell devs were violating a contract with Ubi by working for EA... what's so messed up about that?

Ubisoft is a French company, from France. And they may not leave this topic open for discussion long on their own forums, just an FYI.

I think I dislike just about all the games EA make, but then again, they are more into the genres I'm not interested in, so that would explain why...

NHL 2004 is probably the best hockey game to date, and you forgot about BF 1942!

Well, I know they are supposed to dominate in the sports genre, and I hate sports games, and I've never tried Battle-Field 1942, I've heard a lot of good things about it though, maybe if someone would sell it to me for cheap, hehe, I'll think about it then. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif (You wouldn't happen to be selling it would you? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif )

MOHAA was alright, I beat it, and never had any urges to play it over again, the reason is probably because there is no other way to accomplish the missions. Every objective is met in the same manner, in the same order, it's like everything happened on que. It's fun the first time through, but that's about it, the ending wasn't really that satisfying either. The multiplayer seemed kind of cool, I forgot why I stopped playing it though.

Need For Speed was a good racing series. Wasn't too realistic, but was fun, NFSIISE had the best exotic cars out of any of the series, but wasn't really a great game overall. Now Need For Speed Underground... I am not going to start on that. I think the closest we have to a really good racing sim was Gran Tourismo 3, but even then, the physics was not quite there. I don't believe it had damage modeling in it, did it? If it did, it wasn't really that realistic, but I guess that's to make up for the fact that it's harder to make a turn in that game with supercars than it is for me to make a turn in a Toyota Corolla in real life. I think one of the times I've played it, I was racing around in a racing Corvette. For a bend that wasn't even that sharp, I slowed all the way down to about 35-40mph and I still fishtailed and slid into the wall trying to do the turn. Come on, I can corner doing that speed in real life, even when I drove that old *** Acura Integra that was far from being a race car. Oh well, maybe I should get a PS2 and sit down with it, maybe I'll like it more.

Well, 007 Nightfire was pretty fun as a multiplayer shooter, but the single player campaigne was kind of short and not that satisfying in the end.

But yah, being that EA's strong point is their sports games, probably sums up why I'm not too fond of the company, but fans of sports games would love them.

Ubi Montreal is a conglomerate of Ubisoft, just like Ubi Milan (who are in charge of making Athena Sword). The company itself originated in France.

Oh, ross, don't play Nightfire for PC, it's actually better for the consoles. The PC version is a total different game from the console version, almost, and all the reviewers agree that the console versions are way better, I've never really tried the PC version yet, so I'm not going to say anything for sure. My friend has it on Xbox, and a few friends of mine got really sick (literally) playing it, think they got sick from motion sickness (?), but we all play it fine on GameCube with no adverse effects. From what I know about that, I get motion sickness from playing games with low framerates. I tihnk anything significantly lower than 60fps will give me motion sickness after a while. I'm not going to say that the Xbox version runs at a lower framerate than the GameCube version because I never tried it myself on the Xbox, but I know I get sick from playing Halo on te Xbox, oh man, too bad.

EA is evil? Every EA game I've ever owned would run fine for me. This game on the other hand refused to play on my old computer that was well above the minimum requirements. In result of me not being able to play I was banned from the Tech Support forums because they wouldn't answer my question and I wouldn't stop bugging them.

EA and Ubi are publishers. They don't make the games, and don't have much to do with how they run. EA is evil.

But wait a minute. The development team of RvS wasn't really Redstorm but UBI personnel, unless UBI temporary switch his personnel into the Redstorm flag?

and who was the company behind Splinter Cell before UBI released it?

No. Ubi and EA both do make games.

Raven Shield was DEVELOPED by Ubi Montreal, and Athena Sword is being DEVELOPED by Ubi Milan.

EA has also makes games, mostly sports games, and I think a few others. They do, though, mostly just publish them (such as Maxis games, Westwood games, etc).

Uh, actually, in special forces and a lot of standard military arms training will teach you to slap the magazine in, and it's not the bolt that might break, it's actually the magazine. But using good quality steel magazines, there shouldn't be anything to worry about, well, some H&K's bolt and receiver groups are quite sensitive, but other than that, I don't know of any bolts smashing just from slapping your magazine.

If you watched Combat Missions on USA, you'd see where this technique backfires. In that show, they stupidly gave the competitors in one of the final trials where there was to be live fire, PLASTIC magazines you can see through. The only Navy SEAL was competing against two SWAT guys, one from LA the other from Miami. The SEAL, SLAMMED his magazine into the M16 while loading it, just as he was taught, the magazine actually cracked and chipped into the receiver, but he didn't know this yet, this was found out after the fact. Well, lo and behold, the M16 failed to fire, and nothing he did could get it to unjam. He had a HUGE lead ahead of the SWAT guys, but when it was time for him to fire at the targets, he sat there for so long trying to get it to unjam, that the SWAT guys both caught up, shot, and went on, and won the trial, so the SEAL was eliminated.

It SUCKED because it wasn't his fault, it was the crappy equipment they gave him, and the SEAL was whooping everyone's arse, so he rightfully should have won. My favorite moment was in a mock urban situation where they used MILES equipment, the SEAL popped a perfect headshot from probably 50+yards on a Marine Force Recon dude when he BARELY stuck a small section of his helmet out about to peek. He didn't even get his entire helmet out past the corner when the alarms were already going off from the SEAL's shot.

Like all ready stated, this is not correct. Ubisoft has made many of their games inhouse, and are switching to making more and more of their titles by themselves.

Rayman, Raven Shield, Rainbow Six 3 (xbox), Prince of Persia, XIII, Beyond Good and Evil and Splinter Cell are all games made by, or being developed by, Ubisoft.
