View Full Version : two way doors

Just thing that has been one my mind right now.

I hope they now have doors that open one way only. Unlike Sc and SC:PT http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I find it highly unrealistic that doors open on both sides. Which isnt the case with standard doors

I agree. And that they suddenly close all by them selves... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

well you CAN get doors that open both ways, but i get what your saying

doors that only open one way will be cool

and the door closing on its own sucked as well, it was like he used the force or something

The Door will NOT close by it self, you can clearly see it in the part where sam uses his knife to cut.

When he enters the room, he has the option to close the door.

i noticed this too! but pittbull got here first. damn.

i suppose it was primarily to allow things like what i do in jakarta, in the corridor where ingrid is, i wait till that guard leaves, the door closes itself, then i shoot out the lights. if it didn't close, he hears.

but i like the touch of being able to open forrs with bodies on ur back...

still, the closing door thing is great now

I think the two way opening door thing is to increase the flow of the game so that it doesnt matter at which point of the game you are in you always know that the door will open away from you instead of going to open a door and not know if you will have to take a couple of steps backwards to allow the door to swing towards you.

True, but it opens correctly in RS3 and it doesn't hinder gameplay at all, in my opinion. Stepping back to allow the door to open is a natural reaction--much more natural than always expecting the door to swing away from you. I really like the door opening implimentation of RS3 of being able to "manually" open the door and pause at any point. Again, seems more natural than a door simply swinging completely open...

How is sam supposed to "bash door" if it opens towards him? And if he tries and fails, then his doomed cause the guys on the other side would either (not thinking) shoot through the door, or come get him some other way. I think two-way door opening is fine, mayebe just an option to open the door towards sam would be good.

My two cents wasted on an opinion that will probably be read by nobody important, oh well, I have more money.

You're always thinking of R6 characteristics for Splinter Cell aren't u rikakiah? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I'm looking forward to seeing the stealth door opening again. And maybe that R6 thing aswell...the fluid door peek. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Being highly trained, and highly skilled as he is... I'm sure Sam would know enuough to take one look @ the hinges on the door --> Then he'd instantly know WHICH WAY the door will open.

Being highly trained, and highly skilled as they are... I'm sure the Ubisoft programmers will only give the option to bash down a door that opens AWAY from Sam.

thats a good point it would make noise if sum1 is standing in front of the door when you open it towards sam and they would turn and shootso i reckon doors should go 2 ways

you can bash doors that opens from you, but they would fall of the hinges...

Yes, but what this thread is about - is the fact that 2-way doors are not realistic...

1-way doors would make it more real. 2-Way doors make it easier, both for the programmers, and for the gamers.

Well, hey, RS3 has some very well done parts in it! Of course, it's lacking in other areas, but I don't mention them because they don't help my case... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My favorite thing with it is the quick swap to the secondary weapon--very fluid and natural. Not really something that could be incorporated into SC, since the left trigger is used for the M303 non-lethal, but I definitely like it for FPS games...

it would be cool that if you were being chased you go into a room and hide near the door or behind it and slam it when they try to come in running...thus knocking them out

could u imagine this? Sam goes to bash down a door rite? He goes, tries knocking it in with the but of his rifle, knocks into it, and falls down!! the tangos start firing into the door, and sam gets up, hangs upside down from a pole in the room, hangs by his legs, pulls out his pistol, and kills all of them!! boo yAH!!!!

one thing else i noticed, and its a bit off topic, is y when the shadownets are on the ground, they use 2 hands 2 hold a RIFLE, and when they are upside down on a pipe, they use only 1 hand to hold the EXACT same gun? thx

you try using both hands to hold that gun while hanging by your legs - they would lose balance.

one a more related note.... if the doors are two way, it would be good if trying to go through quietly, especially with that guy standing in front of the door - you could quietly open it towards you, grab him and take him down, then close the door...

The whole point of this site is to find out what players thought was wrong with the previous titles, so the developers can create a Game-of-the-Year quality Splinter Cell, isn't it?

redandblack is perfectly allowed to express what he thinks, but to come back at him and call him names after being here as short a time as you have is not a good way to make friends. think before you speak m8..

Cuz when u bash a door you brake it off the hinges, if u notice the door he bashes hits the guy thn it falls i think.
