CPU Usage with Sandbox

Hi, hope someone can help with this problem that's stopping me from using Sandbox.

When I start a new map, and Sandbox is the active window, my CPU Usage goes to 100% which causes the mouse to lag and generally any mapping difficult to do.

If I open for example the Terrain dialog box, the CPU goes back to normal, as soon as I close it and the viewports are active it's back to 100%. The perspective view doesn't seem to be causing it, since I can turn that off and it makes no difference. Before I start a new map it's fine too, the problem only occurs when a map is open, even if that map is just an empty 256x256 one.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I just searched and didn't find any results.

Well when using sandbox my processor is also cooking at 100% however everything is running pretty fine. The only problem I get is winamp stutters now and then when a lot is going on in sandbox :P

OK at least it's not just me it's happening to http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Don't you experience mouse-lag and sluggish response when it's at 100%? Even if you don't, it's still not very healthy and right now my room is hot enough and I could do without my comp dying from overheating.

mm well mine here it runs on 50% but that means my 2ND cpu is loaded 100% but that keeps my 1st CPU free for windows. so the sollution would be Get a DUEL cpu system http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have the exact same problem, but it fixed itself?! Each time I opened the editor, I had alot of mouse lag, and couldn't get anything done. But, about the 4th time I opened the program, it ran GREAT, I don't know what happend, but it works fine now.

There is no way you should need a new machine and doing so for the sake of one thing is a bit nuts. Like I said all I get is winamp stuttering now and then when running it whilst using sandbox everything else is just fine.

Well, mine lags alot... STILL, and windows media player lags too, I also get alot of sound a graphic issues in the sandbox, static when I shoot my gun, sparks and effects will glitch, but... no big deal, I can ge the map done!

wow mine barely goes over 40% on my laptop which is a p43.0 with ht and a 9700 pro 128mb kinda weird and 512 ddr pc3200 ram

I've formatted my drive and reinstalled XP fresh, and tried another graphics card...

I crank the game top all high setting and ,use sandbox with no problem what so ever.
System specs
Amdk7 1.3, RAM 512, VID Ati 9600XT 128 DDR

I had not had no problem of any kind =)
Just make sure to Not be running anything in the back ground you dont need wile messing or playing. Virrus scanning software, ext
